connecting 2 servers using an FC card via iSCSI
Hi there, I have one server acting as a iscsi target running windows storage server r2 sp2 and the other server is running centos as an initiator. They are connected to a switch over a 1Gbit ethernet connection. the target is a Dell NF600 and the server running centos is a Poweredge R900. We want to move this configuration to a FC based installation using a Dell QLE2462 HBA (this is the hba we can

Shared storage between open Xen, VMware ESX, XenServer, KVM and a normal Linux...
Guys! I have one fiber channel IBM storage (10T) and 8 HP Proliant servers with 32G of RAM on each and 1 HP with 4G of RAM. My question is: * How to use the same storage (block device) with all my different virtualization servers simultaneously? I have 2 open source Xen with CentOS 5.4, 2 VMWare ESX, 2 Citrix XenServer, 2 KVM powered by Ubuntu and 1 Debian exporting the IBM storage to a SAN

pcifront (CONFIG_XEN_PCIDEV_FRONTEND=m) support in RHEL 4.5 x86 Dom U
Dear All, The production server supports Intel Virtualization Technology. Processor is an Intel Xeon 1.86 GHz Quad Core. 8 GB DDR2 memory. There is also an Emulex LightPulse Fiber Channel HBA adapter. The host operating system (Dom 0) is RHEL 5 x86 with Xen Virtualization technology. Dom 0 kernel is 2.6.18-8.el5xen. I have recompiled the Dom 0 kernel so that pciback

pbx -> fiber -> network media converter -> wifi -> network media converter -> fiber -> pbx ???
Please forgive the (almost?) OT post. (and the fact that I need a clue-bat) We've got a situation at one of our sites where a construction crew is likely to dig up our conduit which houses some data fiber and one pair of fiber used to tie a Definity 3gsi at a small office building to the rest of the phone system (school district). We're using a pair of Aeronets to the data network stays

Cluster Quorum Question/Problem
Greetings all, I am in need of professional insight. I have a 2 node cluster running CentOS, mysql, apache, etc. I have on each system a fiber HBA connected to a fiber SAN. Each system shows the devices sdb and sdc for each of the connections on the HBA. I have sdc1 mounted on both machines as /quorum. When I right to the /quorum from one of the nodes, the file doesn't show up on the

How would you burn up 20GB of fiber on a Xen farm?
Hello to all. I''m setting up a high capacity farm that''s going to allow many departments of a company or project have their own resources. I have little to no control over the brand of CPU (I would have much preferred AMD) and name brand of the gear, but I do get some input on what goes in each node. They are dell Power Edge 2950''s, found here :

Fiber or regular DSL Supported Gateways/PRI
Hello Everyone, I am looking to getting converged with the local ILEC here in Canada (Bell or Telus), and was wondering if I can get some more information about typical setups. DIDs and channel offerings from third party clecs does not fit our business model and that's why we are looking to purchasing phone numbers directly from the ILEC, and manging our own PRIs for a convergence of sorts.

Openfiler question - fiber channel?
Hey folks, I don't seem to be able to get a response from the openfiler forums (and they want 40 quid for the fine manual!), and since there has been a lot of chat about it here lately, I figured I'd ask here. Please forgive my terminology as I am just making my first baby steps into iSCSI and Fiber Channel, and am not very well read on the matters. So I could be using the wrong terms

KVM virtual machine and SAN storage with FC
Hi Team, Is there any body got any experience on setting up a virtualized environment in which the vm's can access a fiber channel SAN storage connected to host? the host access the SAN through its own HBA, but the hba is not recognized inside the virtual machines. Please let me know the step to go through this. Regards -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

write system call returning success after SCSI write failure
I am running RHEL3 server connected to a JBOD using a fiber channel HBA. I mounted a disk using ext3 file system with -o sync option on directory /mntb. Then I unplugged the fiber channel cable and did following commands. echo 1 > /tmp/file1 cp /tmp/file1 /mntb/file echo $? The cp command waited for 30 seconds and there are SCSI and file system error messages on the console as expected. I

Using Asterisk with fiber optic
Hi, I'd like to use PSTN and analogic telephone with a Asterisk server which works on a LAN connected to the outside with fiber optic, on which voice stream passes too. Do I need some particular solution, some particular card to make it works or I just need a Digium or similar fxo card? Thanks, Bob __________________________________________________________________ Tiscali ADSL Senza Canone,

I just followed the railscast http://asciicasts.com/episodes/266-http-streaming to have streaming. calling the http://localhost:3000/users ends up with following error: [INFO] NameError (uninitialized constant ActionView::StreamingTemplateRenderer::Fiber): [INFO] /home/kristian/projects/sandbox/rails3.1/rails3.1-test5/ target/rubygems/gems/actionpack-3.1.0.rc4/lib/action_view/renderer/

libvirt and shared storage SAN Fiber Channel
Hi, I'm looking information about using libvirt with san (fiber channel) based storage and googling for a while i don't see anything about it. I send this email in order to get advices about libvirt and shared storage We use here, for 3 years now, 8 linux centos server connected to an hitachi FC SAN (multipath devices). Each server run Xen dom0 and use SAN LUNs to store Virtual machine

striping with ZFS and SAN(AMS500 HDS)
I have Storage-SAN of HDS(AMS500), and I want to do striping on luns from the storage. I don''t want any raid-5(because I have one on the disks in the HDS storage). I only want to do strip on 2 luns(25GB each) that cames from different controllers and deffrent fiber channel port(dual HBA). I test the preformance by writing 512MB in to the zfs, with 2 luns striped(each lun from diffrent

Odd behavior of a CentOS 7 box after repair of an external RAID
I don't think I've seen this with CentOS 6 or 5, but I had to repair an external RAID box this morning. The server, running CentOS 7, has an LSI HBA card in it, and it's presented to the system as /dev/sdb. I shut off the RAID controller, powered it off, did the repair, then plugged everything back in (that includes the two fiber cables and the ethernet), and brought the RAID back up.

Re: Oracle RAC in libvirt+KVM environment
Thanks. I have read the link you provide, there is another link which tells me to pass a NPIV discovery lun as a disk, this is seen as a local direct access disk in windows. RAC and Failure Cluster both consider this pass through disk as local disk, not a share disk, and the setup process failed. Hyper-v provides a virtual Fiber Channel implementation, so I wondering if kvm has the same solution

large ext3 filesystem consistantly locking itself read-only
We have several large ext3 file system partitions. One of them sets itself to read-only after getting journel problems. I understand that's a good thing, but obviously I need to correct the problem so that it will stop locking itself. Here are some details; OS is Redhat EL4 x86_64 running on a SunFire v40z, kernel is 2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp. The disk storage in question is external, via
