NetworkManager default route
Hello, Why is it so, that NetworkManager allows, and in several cases I've had, defaults to setting default route to several interfaces at the same time? Had my fair share of problems with how 172.17.62.something interface tries to ask for a DHCP lease from 193.something network. I know I could set never-default to the interfaces, but I shouldn't have to do it to every machine I had.

how to limit cpu usage for specified processes
Hi, Is there some tool or method in centos that can limit cpu usage to some percentage for specified processes that consume large cpu resource? I found cpulimit which is only able to limit one process. what I want is one tool that can limit several same processes' cpu usage. Thanks! Regards andrew

Extending a CentOS disk without reboot
I did not do pvresize because neither "pvs" or "pvdisplay" reported to have free space. After reboot they did, after which doing pvresize worked successfully. Disabling IPv6 with NetworkManager
Hello, Simple question, I'd like to know whether it's possible to disable IPv6 with NetworkManager only (over command line)? I am aware of: * echo "net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1" > /etc/sysctl.d/disableipv6.conf * sysctl -p But doing it with NM would be way easier to remember. Rescan harddisk size without rebooting
Hi list, I have a SAN attached to a CentOS 4.2 server. I have expanded the size of the virtual disk within the SAN (by adding a new HD to the disk pool) and need CentOS to see the new size (CentOS see it as /dev/sdb). I'm using LVM. Do you know a method for the Volume Group to see that one of its harddisk is now bigger, without rebooting (it's not a problem with a reboot but since

Is XVD live resize possible?
Hi! Say I export an LVM logical volume from dom0 as /dev/xvda to the domU: disk = [ ''phy:xenimages/stan,xvda,w'' ] No I can lvresize xenimages/stan in dom0, but the domU stays ignorant of this change. How could I propagate the resize to the domU without rebooting or temporarily breaking its connection to /dev/xvda? Sort of a SCSI rescan, perhaps? -- Thanks, Feri.

Resizing a PV that belongs within a Volume Group?
Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to extend (ie: grow) a PV that is part of a Volume Group? I currently have a partition on my HD that is being used as a PV for my Volume Group, but would like to make it larger. I have the space on my drive to extend my partition, but using standard tools (ex: gparted, Partition Magic, etc) would likely end up corrupting the data on in the Logical Volumes

Cannot boot
I can boot from DVD. I deleted kernel. Thought it will fix the problem. Now I can see rescue menu only. Kernel source is there. How to get back kernel. How to make fdisk recognize increased iSCSI LUN?
Hello, How to explain to fdisk that /dev/sda size changed? I increased LUN on storage, reloaded iscsi, did echo 1 > /sys/<something>/rescan. And I see in "dmesg" that kernel found new size of the LUN. But when I type "fdisk /dev/sda" it still shows old size. On /dev/sda1 sits LVM PV and I'd like to resize it instead of adding one more PV to volume group.

expand physical volume
Hi. I added a disk to a hardware raid 5 array and now i want to expand the LVM physical volume. There are now 4 sas 146GB disks in the server. The virtual disk /dev/sdb from the raid controller has been resized successfully with the server management software osma. [root at srv1 ~]# fdisk -l /dev/sdb Disk /dev/sdb: 438.4 GB, 438489317376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 53309 cylinders

Expanding a virtual block device
Hi list. I''m running Xen 4.0.1 on Debian. I''m trying to live resize a block device : - I have a arbitrary block device in my dom0 (/dev/mapper/vm-vol42). - I start a PV domain with that device as a disk (disk = [''phy:/dev/mapper/vm-vol42,xvda,w'']). - I resize vm-vol42 in the dom0 (adding size only) - the dom0 sees the device''s new size. -

pvresize on a cLVM
Hi, I'm needing to expand a LUN on my EMC CX4-120 SAN. (Well I already had done it). On this LUN I had a PV of a cLVM VG. Know I need to run pvresize on it. Has anybody done this on a cLVM PV ? I'm trying to rescan the devices, but I can't "see" the new size. And, googling on it I can only find RHEL5.2 responses. Thanks in advance,

Rescan for new geometry without reboot?
Hello, We just had our servers fitted with more disks. Most of the disks are growing existing RAID 1+0 channels, some are in new channels. Controllers and disks support live installation. I'd like to avoid a reboot just to let the system find that the disks are larger. All I can find so far suggests that its possible to rescan the disks, and even find the new geometry (e.g.

how to resize a partition of a disk define as a physical volume

Upgrading to larger HD with LVM
What's the easiest way to transition to a larger HD when using LVM2? I'm running Centos 4.4. I'm going from a 20gb HD to a 40gb HD. I've already DD'd it to the 40gb HD. So now I have 20gb of unused space. Ideally, I'd like to make it one big physical space for the logical space instead of making another physical partition to expand the logical. Here is what I have now

Resize domU block device?
Is there a way for a domU to discover size changes of block devices modified by dom0? To make it clear - if I do in dom0 a lvresize of a logical volume given as physical disk to a domU, is there a way to use the new size of this device within the domU without reboot? what''s correct way of shrinking LVM based domU?
Hi all I want to shrink one of my LVM based domU''s, but don''t quite know how to do it. I have searched the Wiki & HOWTO''s, and they all show you how expand / enlarge a LVM based domU, but not shrinking it. So, I stopped (destroyed) the domU, and then resized it as follows: lvresize /dev/data/cpanel1 -L10GB (It was 100GB), but when I a started it up again, I

resize disk image partition
Hi, I''m trying to clarify if it''s at all possible to live resize a disk image. After trying and failing it seems that the reason a disk image cannot be resized - is that domU is only able to detect changes in partitions (eg. partprobe), not in block devices as the xvd driver lacks a rescan feature. My domU sees disk images as blockdevices - that is without a partition table,
