Usb thumbdrive hardware Id
Hi Is there a way to attach Usb thumbdrive serial number to mounted drive? I see that there is something in the Winecfg. but it does not seem to either save the serial when I put it. Maybe it is unfuncional. The reason I am looking for a solution for this is that I have Windows app that checks the usb drives real serial number. thanks

UEFI boot manager sequence problems HP Envy
Morning all, I have a HP Envy dual boot system (Win8 for serious stuff, i.e. Train Sim and Flight Sim) and Centos 7 for everything else. In the past I've had the occasional problem where an update on the windows side has updated the UEFI boot sequence but using efibootmgr has always fixed it. On Friday I discovered that my HDD was failing so I tried using Clonezilla to move it on to a new

USB Thumbdrive + dos ghost boot image + drive too small = confusion
I will really hate myself if this has already been solved, i searched the archives but didn't really find anything pertaining to it. I have a 2.88mb dos boot floppy image, with ghost.exe, dos nic drivers, and dos system files. It works fine when burnt to a cd. As for the thumbdrive when trying to configure this hpghost.ima file to run from my syslinux.cfg menu, it works and boots up fine but

combining kickstart and DVD on a USB thumbdrive
Hi all, I am trying to find information on taking a DVD of centos 5.2 x86_64 and putting it AND my kickstart file on a USB8G thumbdrive. Note - I am not INSTALLING linux on the USB disk just trying to make installation media for it. I am not taking just the bootdisk.img file to make the USB bootable but the entire DVD content on the USB and my kickstart files. I'd like to just be able to

Re-enable grub boot in UEFI (Windows took over it)
Hello there, Dell XPS-15-9560 laptop (SSD drive, UEFI, secure boot off).. Windows 10 pre-installed, CentOS7 installed in a separate partition and running for months w/o issue. Don't know what happened but at reboot yesterday (not even booted in Windows, just rebooted), grub has disappeared, booted in Windows by default, which apparently has taken over the UEFI boot. By booting from a USB
