SOLVED: Help with Intel 6235 Wireless on CentOS 7 (pointer to good reading?)
My original problem is solved: it turns out that I just needed to install NetworkManager-wifi rpm (which adds WiFi plugin to network manager). Now I'm back in happy GUI world in which everything "just works". Like on Macintosh... only better ;-) Valeri PS beats me why I needed to install it separately though, i.e. why it wasn't installed with "development

Reliable way of having both LAN and WIFI on headless box
Once again I am building a headless Centos 7 box that needs to reliably be on both the LAN and WIFI network at all times. Amongst other things it's going to be an AirPrint bridge enabling IPads to print to printers on a different VLAN. I have asked about this before and got a solution working using nmtui to set up both the LAN and WIFI interface, and activate them. However, the WIFI

You could say the same thing about computers in general: I hate them, they automated many tasks in life and took many jobs out of the market!. CentOS 7.2 laptop wireless Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4)
With CentOS 7.2 a laptop wireless card is recognized in dmesg, but nonfunctional. Toggling the hardware wifi switch causes the Bluetooth icon to appear and disappear. The network configuration window shows the Wireless tab greyed out. Rebooting with the bluetooth enabled does not help. It appears the appropriate driver is iwlwifi, which is what works in Fedora and appears to be available and

Recommendation about an usb wireless adapter to use it as HostAP
Hi all, I would like to install/test CentOS 7.X as a hostap for my home. I am thinking to use an Alfa (http://www.alfa.com.tw) usb wireless adapter or TP-Link. BUt there is not much information in Alfa's or TP-Link's web sites about which of them can run as a HostAP. If I can find any adapter that supports ac with a throughput of 150 Mbps/300Mbps, it would be great. Any recommendation?

Ok, but still unclear where the problem is sitting. Someone tested elrepro or my vanilla kernel http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/kernel/x86_64/ ? Looking for a wireless phone... wifi ortraditional wireless ?
In that example you could make outgoing calls only correct? (since incoming likely needs port forwards) I guess the questions becomes "how often are you going to do that to justify the extra $100 or so you going to pay for a wifi sip phone?" WiFi phones and WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk installations. Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from access point to access point while on a call? Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?

WiFi Phones (was Looking for Wireless Heaset for Polycom 501)
Martin: I had seen your other post and sent you a message off-list, but I never got a response. What do you feel is the most lacking that does not make it ready for a production enviroment. - I've been using a SIP deskphone in my office and usually some sort of ATA at my house, both as the primary phone. I've also had mobile phones from almost every carrier. Each one of these devices

Wireless Wiki ??
I went to the wiki and searched for both wireless and wifi and did not find anything related to wireless cards in CentOS. I think it would be stellar to have something similar to the laptops page but for wifi chipsets. I would propose it have three categories: FOSS chipsets Native driver but not FOSS chipsets (ie atheros via madwifi) NDIS Wrapper FSF has compiled somewhat of a list at
