Struggling to get DC Setup/Validated with BIND_DLZ
So I have a lot of experience with BIND, and some with Samba, but I know nothing about AD. Anyhow, I am trying to get a simple lab DC setup using BIND9_DLZ and I am having trouble when I try and test the DNS update capabilities. I followed the guide here to setup BIND as a backend: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Backend_BIND And the guide here to setup the Samba DC:

SAMBA digest 2065
Hi, Thanks for your help. I set my samba debug level = 3. How to run it with verbose logs? I can't find it under samba-1.9.17p4/docs. Where can I find troubleshooting docs? Could you tell me the web site address? I can't find it under http://us1.samba.org/samba/. I tried running net view \\morpheus (that is our linux) and got the following: On NTs: c:\> net view \\morpheus

get current window (device) size
Dear R-listers, I am writing a function that will generate a simple plot for the user . The size of the window (that contains the plot) may not be what the user wants. Supposing the user adjusts the window to a size of her/his choice, I would like to be able to save the new window size and specify the plot to be of this new window size when the user calls my function again. My question is

sshd key comment logging
Hi, I admin a box that has Subversion users authenticate with public keys to a restricted 'svnuser' account. The comment field of all the keys describe who they belong to (it has their usernames), but unfortunately, sshd does not log this when a user successfully authenticates: Jun 21 08:18:22 localhost sshd[23636]: Accepted publickey for svnuser from x.x.x.x port 2065 ssh2 Jun

Performance settings for 500-1000User/per day
hi, we have 2.0.13 running and most works well, but today we had some minor problems: The IMAP login process takes sometimes to much time. Over webmail (Roundcube 0.5.0.3) login wasn't sometimes possible, the normal clients hasn't any problems, until they login. We had only ~ 20-30 active accounts, but 50-60 sessions. The most are Apple products (Ip*/Mac/. ..)because they have 4 sessions

help recovering vms
I could use some help trying to recover VMs on a system that used to run xen-3.0.0 under sarge. The host (Domain0) bit the dust, so I rebuilt it using SUSE Linux 10.1 which has xen-3.0.2-2 packages. xend is running and I can do xm list, xm info and so on. It still sees the LVM volume groups that the VM data resides on. My VMs are sitting on /dev/vg20/vol01, /dev/vg20/vol03 .... Because I lost

Getting samba to require authentication on every connection
I am using Samba Version 2.2.5. I would like Samba to prompt my clients for authentication every time they connect. Snowfall: "cannont open connection " problem
Dear R-listers, I have been using Snowfall (version 1.84) for parallel computing on a quad-PC running Windows 7 for a month or so without much problem. I started having problems runnnig R with Snowfall over our network when a new Novell client was installed for Windows 7. I experinenced network mapping problem with this new client. Our network colleague provided a fix which worked but a little

allowing individual level correlations to differ by cluster in lme in R
Dear R-listers, I am fitting bivariate mixed models for cost-effectiveness data of cluster randomized trials using lme in R. So I have individuals nested within clusters. My response variable is a vector with bivariate response (individual level costs and effects) stacked into a single column. The covariates in my models are a constant and a treatment term. They are response-specific, e.g. a

Parallel setups
During converting a client from one machine to another, I need to run Samba on both versions. The snag is, for various reasons I need to keep the same hostname on both machines (they refer to each other by different names. and do not use DNS). If it helps, it's Solaris 2.5.1 & 2.6, and the Samba is 1.9.17p4. How can I make them both visible, uniquely, whilst retaining the same host name

SysV interface script
A long time ago, on a mailing list far away, I promised to send the SysV interface script that I use with success; the supplied one is a bit, err, basic... Well, one thing led to another, and I quite forgot, so without further ado, here it is (usual disclaimers): #!/bin/sh # # This interface script drives a PC-attached printer via the SAMBA utility. # # This script is a gross simplification of

Suggestions??: Got too many (2) domain info entries for domain
HI there, I'm franging around trying to put (open)LDAP at the centre of my universe, which works with imap/pop and sendmail, but samba is a different kettle of fish... after much testing I finally get bogged down at: "Got too many (2) domain info entries for domain" in the logs, and nothign progresses after that. And "yes" the ldap root bind password is set, iptables

I want select those unique Ids that do have records in all countries. From the above data set, this ID

Summary statistics & plots of repeated measures data
I'm an R novice and my colleagues are about to convince me to get my data into SPSS, which will presumably be easier for someone who doesn't live in R to point and click his way into some kind of analysis that might be meaningful. I've got two groups of subjects (classkey in the table below). They've each received several different treatments. One measure is a 1-7 rating taken

Loooooong logon-times using samba 3.5.6 and Windows 7
Dear samba-users We are experiencing some rather long logon times using SAMBA 3.5.6 on Debian Squeeze + Windows 7 and while trying to find out why we raised the loglevel to 5 resulting in a rather large logfile. But this did give us a hint as to why we experience so long logon times. It seems that samba is going through the whole user-database with all usernames and machine-accounts. Eventually
