[OT] fail2ban update (epel) breaks logrotate
Apologies, this is slightly off-topic being to do with an EPEL package, although it's running on CentOS6, so I thought others here might have come across this issue. I have five CentOS 6 systems running fail2ban from EPEL, and this package was updated in the last week from 0.9.2-1.el6 to 0.9.3-1.el6. On all these systems, I received an error from logrotate this morning. It appears that

fail2ban logrotate failure
I got the fail2ban from epel. There were a number of issues relating to using a log file... logwatch was looking for both fail2ban and fail2ban.log logrotate file fail2ban added looked for fail2ban.log and then reset itself to syslog fail2ban itself went to syslog, over riding its fail2ban.log. took a while, but I use /var/log/fail2ban now, that finally worked through logrotates and logwatch.

Table called applications - causes stack overflow?
Having worked through Four Days on Rails and the book Agile Web Development with Rails I decided it was time to start a live project. I have an existing application with MySQL database, so I modified the schema to use Rails standard column names. The main table was named ''applications''. ruby script/generate scaffold Application Admin results a stack overflow

multiple smb commands (some non AndX) in one packet
Does samba server handle multiple smb commands (not necessarily andx commands) within one packet? If a client were to send commands such as 0x2f, 0x32, 0x32 in one packet instead of three separate packets, does samba server handle it i.e. respond to each of the three requests?

xen xm list: DomUs blocked
Hi I''m using Xen on my AMD64 / Ubuntu 7.10 server which I recently upgraded, and my 2 VMs are decidedly flaky. They seem to be blocked for most of the time, and networking doesn''t work properly. How can I debug this and get them online reliably? Any tips gratefully received! * I can log in via console or ssh, can ping the server''s NICs but can''t ping the

Logrotate "firstaction" with non-0 exit status. Or: How to keep logrotate from rotating via scripts?
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with the "firstaction" script in logrotate config files, or more specifically, the behaviour with a non-0 exit status. The logrotate manpage says: firstaction/endscript The lines between firstaction and endscript (both of which must appear on lines by themselves) are executed (using /bin/sh) once before all log

CentOS 6/EPel: Missing EPel package?
The EPel repo has a *nearly* complete collection of QT5 packages. One important one that *seems* to be missing: qmake. There does not seem to be a package containing qmake in the collection of QT5 packages for CentOS 6! I guess I can find the source code and build it (somehow)... -- Robert Heller -- 978-544-6933 Deepwoods Software -- Custom Software Services

logrotate and httpd logs
I swear that I've removed httpd from logrotate.d on more than one occasion because I prefer to rotate httpd logs on my own schedule. But the config keeps on returning and throwing off my stats. I'm assuming that when there is an Apache upgrade that it's re-inserting the config into the logrotate.d directory? Is there an easy way to stop it from doing this? I *really* do not want to
