CentOS Download Mirrors
Guys, Is there a difference between CentOS 6.0 and centos 6 on the mirror list? Each mirror seems to have a folder for 6.0 and 6 separately. http://mirrors.lga7.us.voxel.net/centos/

Renaming NIC name in CentOS 7
All, I am trying to understand better how you give an interface a more descriptive name and get it all working without a reboot, if possible. We have 1G and 10G interfaces, and I?m trying to use names like 1G-internal, 1G-external, 10G-private, etc. When I boot up, it?s all fine, but if I add one I?m not sure if there is a way to avoid the reboot? For example, I added the 10G interface names

Unfortunate results from fake-super
When using fake-super mode in an rsync receiver, anything that's neither a file nor a directory (e.g. devices, symlinks, etc) is converted into a file, and properties such as original ownership, filetype, and permissions are stored in a specific extended attribute. In the case of a symlink, the contents of the link are stored in a plain file. The original mode of the symlink is normally

Evolution in CentOS 5.2
(Probably OT) Has anyone else noticed these flaky (new?) behaviors in Evo since the 5.2 upgrade: - REALLY slow saving messages from inbox to another folder - search capability separated by folder instead of overall (with no option for control) - failure to autocomplete email addresses for known contacts I think that's it. I was wondering if it was just me, or if others had noticed this.

Existing files don't show up in share, new files do
I am suddenly no longer able to see any existing files on one of my shares, from my Windows clients. I have a Linux server (Fedora Core 8) which used to be my firewall and router as well as file and print server. There are two Samba shares on it I have mounted on various Windows clients: my home directory and a multimedia directory with my music and videos, etc. I mount the former as H: on all my

State of Gluster 3.4 alpha 3 NFS ACL support
Wonder if someone can point me in the right direction here - just built some new bricks running gluster 3.4 alpha 3 (from http://download.gluster.org) with the objective of testing them to replace some existing 3.2 systems in production. The main thing I was after was NFS ACL support, however on getting everything setup, I still don't seem to be able to see POSIX extended ACLs on the

samba 3.0.23a + ldap as PDC - should work, but why?
I've got an issue with roaming profiles with samba 3.0.23a and an LDAP backend. I can use the ldap to authenticate an NT and a local user, and I know alot about PAM, NSS, and general linux. BUT, I can't get ANY roaming profiles to work. Other than my domain name changed for security purposes, the following is my smb.conf file. (I first used SWAT, then did more customization)

Problems with sftp under SCO OpenServer
Hello, I compiled OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 for SCO OpenServer 5.0.5, HPUX B.11.00, and SunOS 5.7. When I sftp into the HP or Sun box, everything works fine. However, whenever I sftp into the OpenServer box, all remote filenames are shown as "(null)". File sizes, owners, etc. display properly. This behavior is exhibited from all origination points. OpenSSH was configured with identical

Respective Roles of NetworkManager.service and Network.service
I know folks have different opinions about Network Manager, but while researching how to change the name of a NIC without rebooting, I also came across the following page from RedHat that I?ll share as I find it?s very clear and concise explanations on how these services interact on CentOS/RHEL 7:

can't open files off of samba shared drive on w2k/xp workstations
Hi, I have somewhat successfully got Samba working where as users can map the drives to their win2k/xp workstations and wrote to the folders they are given permissions to. They can write to the folder, delete folders, write files, delete files, view the file listing, however, they can't open files. For instance, if there is a word document, they can't just double click on the share and

Printing seems to be entirely broken
Here's the problem: clients that already have a Windows machine with the printer installed (through Samba, several months ago) can print just fine. However, any client trying to add, view, or do anything with a printer *now* always receive a message stating "Access is denied." When I double-click on the printer to add: "Could not connect to the printer. Access is denied."
