kernel Panic on desktop
I arrived at work this morning to find that my desktop unit (CentOS-6.6 KVM) halted with a kernel panic. I am not conversant with any way to save the console display in this case and there was rather a lot of text. I jotted down a few notes and power-cycled the unit to restart. which it did and I am using now to compose this message. The few notes that I manually copied, subject to

KVM kernel panic when additional virtio disks added
CentOS-6.6 virt-manager 0.9.0 I have cloned a template server with a 32GB virtio HDD already defined and am attempting to add additional virtio disks. The basic cloned system boots without error. If I create a virtio disk with 32000/32000 megabytes I can add it and the system reboots; providing that I do not first create a partition: fdisk -l /dev/vg_vhost03/lv_vm_inet11.harte-lyne.ca_03

CentOS-6.7 Passing delayed shutdown via ssh command line argument?
If I log into a host via ssh from my workstation then I can enter this: shutdown -r +90& and log out. The shutdown command will continue in effect and will activae 90 minutes later. However, if I do this instead: ssh -t host.domain.tld 'shutdown -r +90&' then the shutdown command does not remain in effect. Why is this so and is there some way to achieve this? -- ***

CD-Mount on CentOS-6.7
When I load a blank cd into the optical drive on my CentOS-6.7 workstation I am not getting any window or visible mount action on my Gnome desktop. Formerly, when I mounted a writeable media in this drive on this host I would see a nautilus style file browser window open with inducements to add files. When I visit /mnt I see nothing: ll /mnt total 0 My fstab does not seem to have much to say

CentOS-6.7, kvm bridges, virtual interfaces, and routes
I have been looking at this problem on and off for a considerable period. Given my lack of knowledge I have been unable to resolve this quickly and in consequence it has been constantly shoved to the background as other issues arise. Here is the situation: I have two dual-homed kvm hosts both running CentOS-6.7 and identically configured. These are connected to the same LAN segment via

Kernel panic when adding partitioned virtio disk
I have a cloned kvm (that I can now get started following a shutdown and reboot of the hypervisor host). When it starts with its original virtio disk there is no problem. If I create a virtio disk and add it via virt-manager it also boots without issue, although one cannot see the new 'physical' disk. If I shutodwon the kvm guest, partition the new virtio disk, and reboot the guest then

I changed the entries in smb4.conf (smb.conf) to this: [global] . . . dns update command = /usr/local/sbin/samba_dnsupdate nsupdate command = /usr/local/bin/samba-nsupdate -d -g And this is what results when I run: samba_dnsupdate --verbose -d8 --all-names . . . update(nsupdate): SRV _ldap._tcp.Default-First-Site-Name._sites.ForestDnsZones.brockley.harte-lyne.ca
