>By which you mean that sendmail.cf contains the line: >DSrelay:mail.xyz.com ? Yes that is correct. >SMART_HOST will relay mail to destinations for which it doesn't have explicit routing information. > Do you also have a mailertable defined which might include the recipient domain, for example? No there are no other entries in the mailertable or access files. > Try

Hi All, I am 'trying' to set SMART_HOST in sendmail to point to smtp-relay.gmail.com but when looking at the /var/log/maillog its going to mx203.inbound-mx.net. [192.110.255.243], why??? my line from sendmail.mc define(`SMART_HOST', `smtp-relay.gmail.com') I did make in /etc/mail and service sendmail restart This is the only SMART_HOST in the config file. sendmail not sending after reboot
HI folks, I've an up-to-date CentOS 5.x box on a small intranet (<20 users). We did a reboot over the weekend and all appears well except that clients on the LAN can no longer send email. Just hangs/times out. No clear identifiers in the /var/log/maillog or /var/log/messages. We're not setup for ESMTP as it's a closed network and I'm really hoping for a kickstart as to

I should be good, but no. :) As explained by others, SMART_HOST is used for domains for which it has no information (basically, it can't find an MX or resolve the name). If you want

slow sendmail going out
I am trying to find a way to "speed" up sendmail going out of my box. I am setting SMART_HOST. Dont get me wrong email does go out it just takes like 3-4 minutes to get there. When I do "mail xxxx at y.com" and send it the /var/log/maillog file shows the connection and shows the relay as [127.0.0.1]. Then it just SITS there for a long time. Then it picks up the mail and

Sendmail Configuration Problem - 550 5.1.1 - User unknown Problem
Hi, I'm having this Sendmail configuration problem and stuck. I've been doing googling/reading posts and none of the solutions matched my problem. I'm doing some testing, and have been getting this 550 5.1.1 ....User unknown error when I send the email to my company's email address. When I send it to an external email address, such as yahoo, the message delivered successfully.

Sendmail, mailertable and DNS weirdness.
Guys, I've had a weird problem with Sendmail misbehaving in a way I don't really understand. I've worked round the problem but I'd like to understand what was going on. The MX for one of our domains, blah.com, pointed at an internal Exchange server. Mail relayed to a Sendmail MailScanner which then delivered to Exchange for this domain. The domain expired leading to all its mail

[PATCH v3 0/3] btrfs: quasi-round-robin for chunk allocation
In a multi device setup, the chunk allocator currently always allocates chunks on the devices in the same order. This leads to a very uneven distribution, especially with RAID1 or RAID10 and an uneven number of devices. This patch always sorts the devices before allocating, and allocates the stripes on the devices with the most available space, as long as there is enough space available. In a low

Sendmail
I know this is a "generic" question, but fully CentOS related. I attempted to set up i386 v.4.1 on my primary computer at the co-located site, and thought I had everything squared away till I discovered the machine was refusing mail connections. AFIK, I had no firewall or other objects blocking port 25. It has been my experience that with most arch's and versions where sendmail is

one server handled sendmail added two more servers messes things up
Hi all, I had one server running centos 4.7 i686 everything was fine with incoming mail. I now added two more servers centos 5.4 x86_64 and gave them machine names all part of the same domain as machine 1. I noticed that incoming emails are being round robined to all three machines. At this time I really just want the one original machine to handle my incoming email... The other two new

CentOS 5 & sendmail configuration
I'm attempting to configure sendmail to relay outgoing mail to an internal smtp server. I found that the commented line in sendfile.mc that starts with 'dnl define(`SMART_HOST'... needed to be uncommented and a valid value inserted. No problem there, but when I attempt to 'make -C /etc/mail', I get WARNING: 'sendmail.mc' is modified. Please install package

warnquota email domain ?
Dear All, Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, or if I'm just being daft, but I can't get warnquota to send emails to the right address. When I put a test user (gollum) over quota, and run warnquota on a server (nfs2.lmb.internal), the email generated by warnquota appears in the maillog as "to=<gollum at nfs2.lmb.internal>," What I need is the email to
