DDNS-filover in wiki
Hi Rowland, you added the failover to your wiki: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9 It would be a good idea to explain some things. In your script you are using the port 519 and 520 for the failover: -------------- failover peer "dhcp-failover" { primary; address dc1.samdom.example.com; port 519; peer address

After Classic Upgrade
Hello all, we recently did an classic upgrade of our NT-style domain with LDAP backend to AD (Version 4.4.9-SerNet on CENTOS 7). We had some small issues but all in all it worked pretty good. Now we are in production with 3 DC and have some questions/observations: -- We used to have a WINS server in our old domain and we kept this running without change. Is it possible to migrate this to the DCs?

DDNS with bind9 and isc-dhcp-server
Hello List, Hello Rowland :-) again I'm having problems with the DDNS. I did it as shown in the wiki. I took all teh scripts from the wiki the dhcp-dyndns.sh is Version: 0.8.9 I configured everything including the failover. When I start the two DHCP-Server everything is perfect. I see the right messages in the log, the two DHCP-Servers are talking to each other. When a Client ask for an

No connection in DomUs with network-route
Hi, I would like to know if somebody can point me out how to configure several DomUs in a private LAN (for example 192.168.100.0/24) and one DomU with two interfaces (one - 192.168.100.0/24 and two - internet). So far I have enabled in xend-config.sxp: (network-script network-route) (vif-script vif-route) My config files have: /mnt/VM/1.cfg:vif = [''ip=192.168.1.3'']

Securring DHCP, with DDNS
Thanks Rowland and Louis! :) Ok I'm going to test the failover mode! ;) Do I need to set the same value for NSRVS in dhcp-dyndns.sh? ( the first AD server, "S4" for me ) Or can I keep NSRVS=S4.ariane.intra on server S4 and NSRVS=S4bis.ariane.intra on server S4bis? It seems to be more secure for me if the first server switch off... Securring DHCP, with DDNS
Hello All, I have 2 samba4 AD server with dhpd and dynamic DNS. I have well understand that for now it's not possible to have 2 DHCP server running in the same time. So I would have at a time only one dhcp server running. If the first server got a problem I want to manually start the isc-dhcp service in the second to rescue the system. But It's not working as I expected... If I switch

dhcpd frequent renewals
Folks This might be the wrong place to ask, but I don't know where to turn. My internal home network, including wireless, is controlled by a Centos6 server, which provides dhcpd services, along with NAT. I have DHCPD configured with the addresses 192.168.155.200 through 192.168.155.254 as the range for dynamic allocations. The default-lease time is 1800 seconds, the maximum is 3600

UEFI and PXE
We have a working PXE setup. I've tried to adapt it to UEFI as per RHEL6 manual, but the client won't boot. Strangely, tcpdump shows that the client tries to download all files via tftp from the dhcp server rather than the tftp server (they are different). next-server is pointing to the tftp server. Any clues?

bind9 and isc-dhcp-Server for dynamic DNS-updates Error
Hello Rolawnd, I followed the wikipage exactly. Bind9 is installed on the Samba DC. The Linux-Client should be a member of the Active Directory-domain? Suggested update to the Wiki page on PXElinux (UEFI-related stuff in ISC dhcpd.conf)
Dear gentlemen, here goes the documentation fix I was talking about :-) The Wiki page on PXElinux, specifically the chapter on UEFI at the end of that page: https://wiki.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=PXELINUX#UEFI ...contains a few examples of ISC DHCPd configuration. The stumbling block for me was the syntax of these "if" scopes: if option architecture-type = 9 { filename

how to allow ISC dhcpd to add/update entries to bind9 with bind_dlz (samba4)
Hello all, I have set up a samba4 server with bind9 and the bind_dlz module. Everything is working as it should but now I need to allow the dhcp server to add entries to the forwarding zone. Has anybody implemented such a configuration ? Can this be done with the kerberos DNS dynamic update configuration. I want to achieve the following: 1) allow non-Windows machines (printers, ILO ...) to be

dhcpd frequent renewals
Rob DNS service for my clients is provided by my gateway server, the same machine as the DHCPD server. I think that's what the "option domain-name-servers" line does. This allows me to provide 192.168 addresses to them when they try to access anything inside the house with a name. If it's not a locally defined name, BIND forwards the request to the internet. ISC dhcpd and Vista clients
Has anyone had good luck serving dhcp addresses to Vista clients that work reliably? I have a test system and I can't seem to find out how to properly get dhcpd to always respond with broadcast instead of unicast since Vista won't honor unicast dhcp packets. -- MailScanner is like deodorant... How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi. I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE. The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes ages untill a VM can
