Copy to smb share fails with "invalid argument" on CentOS 7
Hi, I've had problems copying files to Windows shares from my CentOS 7 machine lately. I originally got this in the desktop file manager, but find that I can also reproduce using gvfs-copy. "cp" to the directory mounted by gvfs works just fine, on the other hand. Also, the problem does not occur with small files - I think anything below 64k is OK. The following command sequence

Models = Articles, Blogs, MusicTracks, and MediaFiles I have individual searches within each section of the site working just fine, but I want to have a gloabl search that searches across all of them at the same time and returns the results ordered by score. Installing a single rpm package from desktop/browser on CentOS 7
Unfortunately, the GUI isn't quite set up to tell you what the error would be. When you use `$ sudo yum install whatever.rpm`, the output in the shell will often give you a clue as to what's going wrong--a missing dependency, etc. -- Seth. MediaCtrl?
Hi. First of all, thank you for your hard work - wxRuby (with wxSugar) is a wonderful tool! I have been playing with it on and off for a year or so for toy projects and really like it! I need to play mediafiles (mostly mp3s) from within an application. In wxwidgets (the c++) I can use wxMediaCtrl. As I understand it this class is not implemented in wxRuby - right? Is there a reason for this - is

Read only behaviour of a file when opened two or more times.
Hello, My samba server (version samba-3.0.33-3.39.el5_8) on CentOS 5.8 (kernel 2.6.18-308.1.1.el5) opens files as read only once it has been opened from the second time onwards. The first time the file is opened, it is possible to edit the file and save these changes. Once the file has been closed and then opened again, it is opened as a read only file and when making changes, it is not possible

Pulse Secure/Juniper Networks Network Connect (CentOS 7)
Hi, Is anyone here using the "Network Connect" VPN software from Pulse Secure (which was previously known as Juniper Networks Network Connect)? I've used this successfully in the past to connect to the machines at work from home. That was with CentOS 6, though, on CentOS 7 I can't seem to get it to work. The software actually starts, and it also successfully sets up a

Ceph + RBD + Xen: Complete collapse -> Network issue in domU / Bad data for OSD / OOM Kill
Hi, A bit of explanation of what I''m trying to achieve : We have a bunch of homogeneous nodes that have CPU + RAM + Storage and we want to use that as some generic cluster. The idea is to have Xen on all of these and run Ceph OSD in a domU on each to "export" the local storage space to the entire cluster. And then use RBD to store / access VM images from any of the machines.

Formatting axis label numbers on plots
Is there any way to control the format of the axis label numbers on a plot? More specifically, I have some plots that get axes with label numbers in exponential format, and I'd like to change that to non-exponential. Thanks!! -- M. statistics question about a statement in julian faraway's "extending the linear model with R" text
In Julian Faraway's text on pgs 117-119, he gives a very nice, pretty simple description of how a glm can be thought of as linear model with non constant variance. I just didn't understand one of his statements on the top of 118. To quote : "We can use a similar idea to fit a GLM. Roughly speaking, we want to regress g(y) on X with weights inversely proportional to var(g(y).

Rspec/Ruby to test software written in other languages?
Is anyone here using Rspec and Ruby to test software written in other languages? I''m about to start an R language project, and may also be doing some work in another language (I''m not sure which one yet, but it''s one of the ones that''s part of the Axiom symbolic math package). I''d dearly love a test framework that can handle all three languages,

LIMMA contrast.matrix
Dear R-Help, I am using the LIMMA User's Guide 5 January 2007 PDF version. For the example show in Section 7.4 DIRECT TWO-COLOR DESIGNS (pgs. 33-34), I could not grasp the rationale in developing the contrast.matrix with these R statements (">" indicates the R command prompt): > contrast.matrix <-

python bindings for R
Hello, my group is investigating the development of a statistical program in support of some other work we are doing. Stats is not really our area of expertise and we would like to leverage existing code where possible. From your site, I have gathered that R is pretty capable and well used. We are currently developing in python and targetting a primarily windows environment. We would like to

Unable to join samba server to a NT4 style domain/Sam ba-Guide feedback
John, The restrictanonymous setting was the primary culprit in Ash's issue. I think he's using basically the same setup as I am; no winbind/LDAP involved. I'm thinking there's some initial handshaking that requires an anonymous connection to PDC, and it's being blocked if the restrictanonymous setting is too high. I sent a note to Ash (& the list) asking for the
