Mongrel Apache 2.2 SSL
I have an Apache2.2 SSL setup with vhosts on my server with fastCGI
running several applications. The applications all work except IE
hangs any time the network traffic isn''t perfect. I have very few
problems with firefox.
When I run native Mongrel on a port and point the browser to that port
it runs much much better. When I try pointing Apache to that port
either using ProxyPass or

apache2.2 mod_proxy, mongrel, and my poor rails code
Hi mongrel-users,
Just a heads up for apache2.2 mod_proxy + mongrel + rails users:
If you have a line like this in your source (because you''ve done a
poor job maintaining your code and reading the API docs):
render ''foo'', :layout => ''bar''
You might expect it to do what it says... but it actually sets
deprecated_status and ends up setting

Mongrel Upload Progress progress method returns Content-Length: 0
Running into a strange bug using the mongrel upload progress plugin
handler, sitting in front of a simple mongrel.
The bug appears on an old Xserve (mac OS X 10.3.9 powerpc), but not on
my macbook pro, or even a generic 686 linux box.

Apache2.2 + Mongrel: what do you think about these perfs?
Hi all,
I''ve been spending quite a lot of time trying to install a decent RoR
server on my dedicated server (Ubuntu 6.06 LTS), and now, everything
works.
However, the performances are not really what I had expected... I would
like to know what you think about it.
Here is my config: 2GHz VIA proc, 1Gb RAM, SATA-II HD.
I have apt-got ruby 1.8.4, mysql5 and installed rails 1.1.4 by

apache -> pen -> mongrel cluster
Hi everyone,
Recently, I''ve been reading about different deployment environments for
rails and mongrel. One configuration I''ve started seeing is apache -> pen
-> mongrel cluster. See http://errtheblog.com/post/35 as an example.
Can someone explain to me the benefit of using Apache and Pen as opposed to
either using apache as a load balancer or pen by itself?

mongrel stops responding after period of no use
I just moved from apache2/fcgi to apache2.2/mongrel and everything
seems to work great except for 2 issues, one being major and one
minor.
the major issue i am experiencing is that after a period of time where
my rails apps are not used, typically overnight, the mongrel processes
become unresponsive. I currently have 3 apps running behind an
apache2.2 proxy. every morning when i come in to

Hello All
I am trying to install 5 mongrel servers against my app. i am using
Vista. I found this article on a website.. but am stuck on one point.
here are some notes from article:
Now enable the needed modules (url rewriting, proxy, proxy_balancer e
proxy_http) by editing the httpd.conf file (under c:
\Apache_Software_Foundation\Apache2.2\conf, if you installed Apache in
its standard path).

Mongrel + apache 2.2 + proxy error
Hi,
I have a setup with apache 2.2.6 proxying requests to a cluster of 5

Apache 2.2 + Mod Proxy Balancer + Mongrel - Hot Linking Protection?
Hey guys,
Ok, basically I coded a ruby on rails CMS to manage a bunch of media
files. I am finding that a lot of people are "hot linking" to these
media files and would like to prevent this to save bandwidth. Usually
in the past, it hasn''t been a problem, I would add something like the
following to my .htaccess file
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$

Apache 2.2, Mongrel and #caches_page
Hi !
I''m no expect when it comes time to configure Apache. I just enabled
page caching in my Rails app, and am now looking at making Apache
serve the cached files instead of calling into Rails.
I know Mongrel is able to serve cached files if it finds them, but I''d
like Apache to do it.
Looking at .htaccess, there is this section:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^$ index.html

Apache Load Balancer Manager With Mongrel
Thanks for the answer on server::start...that makes sense, just wanted to
make sure I was not doing anything incorrectly. I am now running 3 mongrel
servers as windows services (mongrel_cluster is not supported for windows).
I have apache configured with with mod_proxy_balancer from the instructions
at http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/apache.html. I am able to access my
app without a port

Mongrel/Apache and static content
I''m looking for an easy way to have mongrel only serve dynamic railscontent, while letting Apache serve non-Rails content. Unfortunately,it seems that you have to segregate the static content in its ownfolder. That was also the case with the SCGI runner. I used thetrick outlined athttp://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.ruby.rails/23347 to managethis. I was curious if a similar

Mongrel with LocalDirector - static content?
Hello everyone-
I am considering using Mongrel and I have read this list pretty
extensively. I know that the Apache/mod_proxy_balancer/mongrel
approach is the preferred one right now, with Apache serving the
static content via mod_rewrite and such. However, in my hardware
arsenal, I already have an old and trusty LocalDirector, which I
would be inclined to at least try first as a

Mongrel+Apache 2.2 Proxy
Hi,
I''m running a rails (mongrel) based web service behind an apache proxy,
on windows 2003.
Sometimes I see a POST in the apache log that returned a 404 but nothing
about it in the rails log.
It doesn''t happen every time, 9 out of 10 times it works just fine.
The post (is actually a put) comes from a .NET application uploading a
small xml-file.
The log message in apache

IIS proxying to lighttpd/apache to mongrel with SSL
This might not be a mongrel question so much as an IIS question, and
if so, my apologies.
I''m needing to switch a (ASP.NET) web application that''s running
behind a firewall appliance on IIS on port 8443 under SSL to a rails
web application -- a mongrel instance (and perhaps later apache or
lighttpd with new mod_core_prox in front of mongrel) on a different
server.
I remember
