Mounting NFS file systems via Nautilus on CentOS 6
Looks like Nautilus is periodically 'stat'-ing the bookmark location.
How about making a softlink to the target dir in your home directory, then
bookmarking the link in nautilus. Hopefully Nautilus will stat the link
and not the target then.

You probably didn't read my post properly.
Part of what I'm saying is that autofs is set up out-of-the box to mount
the filesystem. However, to access the area, I have to type in the full
path all the time, which is rather tedios. I'd like to bookmark the
location, but the problem is

Help viewer issues
Hi.
Does anyone else have issues with the GNOME help viewer on CentOS 6? I think it mostly worked a while back, but after some recent update or the other, I have problems like:
1. Nothing happens when I click "Desktop User Guide" or "GNOME Desktop Accessibility Guide" or "GNOME Desktop System Administration Guide" on the "Help Topics" page.
2. If I

nautilus problem and smbclient question
Hi,
I'm having a problem getting smb to work through Nautilus and in trying to
diagnose the problem, I ended up with another problem with smbclient(1),
or more likely a misunderstanding on my part about how it is supposed to
work. I'm using the following packages on an up2date RH8.0 box.
# rpm -qa | grep samba
samba-common-2.2.7-2
samba-2.2.7-2
samba-client-2.2.7-2

Copy to smb share fails with "invalid argument" on CentOS 7
Hi,
I've had problems copying files to Windows shares from my CentOS 7
machine lately. I originally got this in the desktop file manager, but
find that I can also reproduce using gvfs-copy. "cp" to the directory
mounted by gvfs works just fine, on the other hand. Also, the problem
does not occur with small files - I think anything below 64k is OK. The

CentOS 5.2 - Nautilus - file types are not associated with an action and icons are not displayed
Hi all,
I use CentOS 5.2 as a desktop and the Gnome Nautilus doesn't display
icons related to the file types and all associated actions ("open with")
are lost. It is so bad, that the desktop shortcuts are displayed as
ordinary files "Filesystem.desktop" or
"openoffice.org-1.9-calc.desktop", and when I click on them, the
Nautilus wants to know what it should

Samba and Nautilus
Like a good many others, I encountered difficulty getting Nautilus to
work properly with Samba, in my case using SuSE 9.0. It now works
properly. Based on my experience, I offer the following suggestions.
First, before trying to do anything complex, make certain that your
lmhosts and hosts files are configured properly. Be sure that all IP
addresses and host names the Linux side match

Can't browse network using nautilus
Hi,
I'n using the nautilus file browser in a GNOME desktop environment on a
FC2 system.
If I enter smb:/// in the location bar in nautilus I can see the
network but whenever I try to look at the shares on a computer I get a
message saying that I do not have permissions to view the contents.
I looked in the archives and found a thread on a similar problem. This

Nautilus / Desktop Icons
Hi,
I've a nautilus problem with CentOS 4. It doesn't show the desktop
items any more (also after dropping all gnome files/dirs from a users
homedir) en the right mouse button menu also doesn't work.
Googling around I've found various items about the problem but until now
not a clear solution. Some people mention some 'browser mode in nautilus
preferences'. But I
