It?s not a question of what is ?newer?. Fedora has ?fbset?, and has had it since before CentOS6 was released, and continues to have

nouveau framebuffer sync polarity
Hello everyone,
i use the noveau framebuffer device in kernel version 2.6.37.6.
my graphic adapter is a msi 9500gt, connected to a Barco CRT projector.
The Barco will only accept RGB signals with a negative sync.
Is there a kernel command line parameter to force negative sync
polarity?
Or is there a user space command to set framebuffer parameters, fbset
does'nt work with nouveau frame

4K ~ 3840x2160 resolution and frame buffer support
Hello. I hope this is in the right place.
I just built a new machine and installed Xubuntu and I'm still figuring
things out.
I'm interested in working with The Linux Frame Buffer.
Many years ago, I started a project called ezfb and I would like to
continue developing it on a machine capable of 4K.
Is it possible to have a frame buffer that does 3840x2160 ?
With nouveau installed as

4K ~ 3840x2160 resolution and frame buffer support
Thank you for your quick reply.
I have a Gigabyte GT-730 2GB card hooked directly via a high quality
HDMI cable to a 65 inch Samsung curved screen LCD 4K monitor.
I'm not sure what I am looking for in dmesg and xorg log.
Please advise.
I have built the 3.19.8 kernel and enabled frame buffer support.
I can see 7 out of the 8 penguins when I boot.
My ultimate goal is to be able to boot to

I think he means /var/run/log/journal/
Which is included on a stock centos system.

ssh freezes
All too often, my ssh session will freeze.
I'm fairly certain the problem is at my end.
None of the tilde commands work.
In particular, ~# and ~. are nonfunctional.
I can write to ssh's terminal window from another terminal window.
If I kill the ssh process, I can ssh in again.
The next time it happens,
I will try another ssh session without killing the first one.
dmesg did not show me

ant RPM for CentOS 4
Attempting to build OpenOffice 2 on CentOS 4 from rawhide (future FC5) SRPM.
The spec file has EL4 target (which is nice), and I got almost all dependencies
in place (mostly from 4.2beta and some from rawhide). However, I'm missing the
ant package. Ant from rawhide doesn't compile since it is already gcc 4 based
(fails on dependencies, getting it to use gcc4 instead of gcc seems like

Where to find rh 7.1 rpms for ext2progs and updated mount?
Hi there..
I'm another ext3 newbie and I have patched and installed 2.4.12-ac1, and
compiled from source the above utils.. I saw a link a while back for rpms for
these, and I was wondering if anybody knew the url...
Also, the question everybody wants to know I think - Does anybody have any
idea when the ext3 code will enter the stable kernel tree (not -ac)?
I am assuming RH might wait

latest skype (version 8.16.0.4) on Centos 7
Hi all!
I've finally been reduced to having to install Skype on my Linux box.
I resisted for years, but now ended up trying it.
and while the latest RPM installs just fine, it refuses to acknowledge
that I have a microphone!
In fact I have two: 1 in the USB web cam (it finds the cam), the second
in a Plantronics USB headset, which works fine but not with skype.
it is as if it doesn't

Activate DVI-I behind KVM on FX 5200
Hi folks,
I don't seem to be able to enable the DVI-I output of an old FX 5200
behind a KVM switch. Autodetection works fine if the FX 5200 DVI output
is switched to the monitor, but when it is not, I have not found a way
to force-enable it.
Here is what I tried:
*) used the video=DVI-I-1:1280x1024-24 at 60e kernel parameter
(framebuffer still sits at 1024x768)
*) used "options

Puppet on busybox, Bob Hope or No Hope?
When I say busybox it''s actually VMware ESX server which seems to use
busybox (which I guess is the case a number of other software appliances) .
Reason for wanting to install puppet is to run the cli tools to create
nightly vmware snapshots.
I''m happy to give it a go (and add the docs to the wiki) but I''m not too
sure at this stage how big a task this might be and what,
