Simple question
I am trying to convert a string to a vector, and I'm stuck!
Suppose you have a string of numbers (string) that you want to convert to a
vector (vec). I am able to split the string turning it into a list by using
strsplit, but this makes a list, which I can't seem to access the way that
I'd like to (it becomes a character list of only one(?!?) element.)

You should think of it this way: the program that wants something drawn
on the screen is a client; the program that does the drawing is the
server. The

Failed X11 authentication does the wrong thing
Hi,
if I do the following:
ssh -X localhost
su - another_user
xterm
I get:
X connection to ming:10.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
Where what is really wanted was something like:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: :0.0
'tis easy to reproduce the bug, but the debug

Remote X connection to CentOS 5.5 using Xming -ac
Hello,
I've rented a dedicated root server (SR7 at strato.de)
and would like to run qemu at it, but get the error:
# qemu -hda install.img -cdrom install47.iso -boot d
Could not initialize SDL - exiting
It seems that I have to establish X connection,
so I've installed Xming at my WinXP laptop
and at the server I have changed these 3 lines
in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config:

minimal X applications needed to export to remote server?
I'm running a piece of network backup software called 'bacula', on a minimal CentOS 6.4 install.
I got everything working pretty well, but there's one piece giving me some problem-- a component which gives status info via a GUI.
In the past, on previous installations, I could ssh to the bacula server with the -X option, and run the application (called 'bat'), and it would

Set font and size in xterm
I have a situation where gnome console does not handle vt102 escape
sequences properly and therefor need to employ xterm instead. When
I run xterm from a gnome terminal window I am presented with an
extremely small terminal window employing an almost unreadably small
font.
I have attempted to set the font size using xrdb and a custom
.Xresources file. I can change the colour scheme. I can

I try to access virt-manager via x-forwarding from another CentOS 6.3
client in my network (runlevel 5 with default gnome)
on The server i changed my sshd_config:
X11Forwarding yes
i installed xauth on both of the machines.
Anything else there is to do?
When i try to:
ssh -X root at server

[PATCH] p2v: un-duplicate common dependencies
Move all the dependencies with the same name in all the distributions to
a single list at the end.
There should be no change to the package list used to build the p2v ISO.

X11 forwarding and LBX
So I'm working from home today, and for the first time I've tried
running Evolution over a forwarded X11 connection. Even though work has
a T1 and I have 640k at home, and ssh is compressing, it's ... rather
slow.
So I fire off lbxproxy and try to run an xterm to see if it works. No
dice, authentication denied.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Is it possible to run
