dm_mod: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted
I used the xensource install script for RHEL4 and after trying to boot on the new kernel the system just continually rebooted. I appended a noreboot to the xen line and now i''m seeing the following... Freeing unused kernel memory: 184k freed dm_mod: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted. device-mapper: 4.4.0-ioctl (2005-01-12) initialised: dm-devel@redhat.com

dmesg shows Intel Virt., lsmod shows kvm_intel; "Host does not [have] virt. options"
Hello, I've tried over at IRC and it appears the solution to this problem may not be obvious. I'm working with a Centos7 box on HP ProLiant 380p hardware. The BIOS is a bit outdated, but both Intel Virtualization Options and VT-d are present and enabled in the firmware. Some relevant command outputs below: -bash-4.2$ dmesg | grep Virtualization [ 1.299295] DMAR: Intel(R)

Where are the Centos 7.1 1503 KVM repos please?
Thanks for all the replies. Looking at the specs for the processor it does not seem to have the vmx features in /proc/cpuinfo: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-2-Duo-T6400-Notebook-Processor.35100.0.html and the output from grep -E ?vmx|svm? /proc/cpuinfo is empty. /lib/modules/3.10.0-229.7.2.el7.x86_64/kernel/arch/x86/kvm [keith.roberts at acer-centos kvm]$ ls kvm-amd.ko kvm-intel.ko

Tainted kernel module?
Hello, Some time ago, I noticed that whilst I had upgraded to Xen 3.1 (kernel 2.6.18-xen), I''d forgot to upgrade the paravirt DomU .cfg kernels from 2.6.16-xen to reflect this. So, I upgraded the DomU kernels & ran into issues with mounting devices, and the ext3 module not being available. After a bit of faffing about, I managed to sort this out and load the ext3 module.

How does libvirt interaction with KVM to create a VM?
All, These days I am trying to understand the interaction relationship between the libvirt and KVM kernel module, eg. kvm_intel.ko. We know that KVM kernel module expose an entry in form of device file "/dev/kvm" which can be accessed by user space application to control, for example, create a VM using KVM_CREATE_VM with help of ioctl. Now let's say the tool virsh based upon

Is kvm ready for prime time?
Hi all, I've started playing with kvm on CentOS 5.5, with not much success so far. In a nutshell, I have the same problem as http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-virt/2010-April/001854.html I followed the RHEL5 virtualization guide to set up a bridge interface br0, and then used virt-install (rather than virt-manager - I like automation) to set up the vm. It hangs at some point.
