centos 7 will not install :(
Please ... any info on how to proceed??? After I made sure it had the correct sha256sum, and after I burned it to DVD, and and dd'd the DVD back to a temp file and again checked the sha256sum of the temp file, all was OK. Same sha256sum. So, I rebooted the machine and it booted up from the DVD. I got a message that it was not using VNC, Then after that immediately an error came out saying

Possible bug in mkfs.ext3
I am reporting this on the advice of the Fedora Users Mailing List Member. This the mailing list exchange outlining the problem with specifying -S to mkfs, and it's subsequent consequences when fsck is run. I am reporting this per suggestions made to me on the Fedora Users Mailing List. The following is the mailing list exchange: On 09/18/2014 07:01 PM, Robert Nichols wrote: > On

centos 7 will not install :(
I did see your post. So, even though the sha256sum was perfect on the iso file and on the DVD, it failed to install. I then used a usb flash drive and booted the flash drive to do the install. It also failed. The screen image I took with my camera can be viewed at https://www.sendspace.com/file/4828ej The questions I have are: why VNC ??? VNC is a horribly insecure protocol. Why would I want

off topic - need help registering to the smplayer forum
Hi All, smplayer has no mailing list. I tried to register at http://forum.smplayer.info/ucp.php?mode=register but the capchas are so incredibly impossible to discern that I gave up after 5 tries. I tried the audio option, but the audio option plays so garbled it is impossible to understand. My audio is great. I play youtube vids with great clarity. So I am hoping someone who is on that forum to

Win2k Profile problem
ok, I have Samba 2.2.0alpha2 (on RedHat 6.2) up and running as a PDC, I can add Win2k machines to the domain and the machine accounts are automatically created. (finally!) Now, my problem is when a user logs off the machine for the first time, their profile is created, BUT(!) it only makes rwx permissions for SOME of the directories in the profile, this is what I mean: [root@samba profile]# ls -l

New thunderbird and ligntning on CentOS 5...
Hey, anybody found a way to run the new Thunderbird Lightning calendar addon on CentOS 5...? From my debugging, it seems like the lightning addon is compiled with a newer version of glibc... ? Failed to load native module at path '.../Linux_x86-gcc3/libcalbasecomps.so': (80004005) /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found? Tried older versions, 2.6 and 2.5b2, but they seem not

changes in rspec 2.4 break ci_reporter
Hi I use the ci_reporter gem for builds on my CI machine (hudson). Prior to rspec 2.4, environment options would override commandline options. So the gem used this to change the formatter and require its files. In 2.4, that order has been reversed. the thing is 2.4 supports multiple formatters, so there is another suggestion. RSpec::Core::ConfigurationOptions def parse_options

Adding a folder to my rspec execution path
Hi guys, I''m using RSpec with Capybara, and for that I created the spec/integration folder. But when I execute the command "bundle exec rspec spec" RSpec don''t execute my files on integration folder. I need to pass each file to solve this problem. Do you known how I can put the integration folder on rspec execution path without need to pass each file? Thanks, Pablo

Wrong file permissions in CentOS 7
Sorry if this question has been asked many times before. On a new CentOS 7 system, when I create files they end up with strange permissions. For example, as root: [root at server ~]# umask 0000 [root at server ~]# touch a [root at server ~]# ls -l a -r--r----- 1 root root 0 Oct 10 11:45 a As a regular user: [stern at server ~]$ umask 0000 [stern at server ~]$ touch b [stern at server ~]$ ls
