Samba + OpenLdap replication problem
Hi all, not sure if I can ask here, because this sounds to me more an OpenLdap than a Samba problem, but it involves samba too. I've got a domain controller based on Fedora 2, samba 3.0.7-2.FC2 and openldap-2.1.29-1, which serves 60 users in a domain. Now I'm trying to set up a backup domain controller, based on the same software, on another machine. I stop Openldap on the master, dump

Access denied error when trying to join XP to Samba Domain
Hi everyone, I know this one has been addressed before. I have had so much trouble getting the IDEALX scripts to work that I set about writing my own and they almost work. The trouble is with the add machine script. The first time I do the join, I get an access denied error message on WinXP. I have verified that an entry for the machine was successfully created in ldap. Then, I try again

Migrating from Centos 5 NT4 style to Centos 7 issues
Hi. I want to move my current domain running centos 5 to centos 7. Samba3x ==>Samba4x openldap 2.3x==>2.4.x I move my ldap backup that I got from backups: slapcap -l mydomain.ldif Next move my config files to the new server: /etc/ldap.conf /etc/openldap/slapd.conf /etc/openldap/ldap.conf Schemas are correct. Copy DB_CONFIG that doesn't exist on openldap 2.4, to /var/lib/ldap/

Migrating from Centos 5 NT4 style to Centos 7 issues
I vaguely remember some issue where openldap between versions went from using a single file for config to a multiple file config. I think you could use the slapcat command to convert. Samba 3.0 + OpenLDAP 2.1 Saga (LDAP Attacks!)
Oh Wise Ones, For the past two days, I have contested with the Samba documentation and other sources of lore in a vain attempt to achieve Samba/LDAP integration. My test system is running RedHat 9 with updates applied, along with OpenLDAP & OpenSSL from redhat-rawhide, and the Samba 3.0.1pre1 RPM from the Samba website. A couple of questions: The HOWTOs instruct one to slapadd a file

Hi, I'm making a schema for my company's co-workers, but i'm obviosuly doing something wrong, because i get: ldapadd -x -D "cn=admin,dc=telbit,dc=pt" -w secret -f people.ldif adding new entry "dc=telbit,dc=pt" ldapadd: no attributes to change or add (entry="cn=admin,dc=telbit,dc=pt") My schema file (experimantel) is: ## objectclass definition for

ldif invalid per syntax
Hello CentOS I am having a bit of trouble importing an ldif into openldap, tho the syntax looks a-ok to me. I am attempting to import my sudoers list into my ldap configuration and I used an application called sudoers2ldif to generate the ldif. I used the following command to import the file: ============================================= [root at bluethundr-desktop:~/txt/ldif ] $:ldapadd -h

OpenLDAP Problem
Everyone, We currently are running a Centos3 directory server, I am currently testing centos4 as an upgrade of this machine in the future. There is a special user we have called cn=samba,ou=special in our directory, this user is for samba to use when binding to the directory. On the production replica server, i have taken an offline slapcat ldif of the entire tree. I then copied this file to

OpenLDAP migration from Centos 5 to 6
I'm moving my home network server from a Dell server, which has been having some mysterious problems, to an HP MicroServer. Everything - MySQL, OpenVPN, email (dovecot), httpd, etc - except for openLDAP, which is taking more time than everything else put together. I haven't found any straightforward instructions on this anywhere. The official RedHat document

updating samba/ldap: do I need new attributes?
Hello, I plan to update my samba-3.0.22/openldap-2.3.24 to samba-3.0.34/openldap-2.4.15 and I'm currently testing it. This is on FreeBSD. My idea is : 1) slapcat the openldap server and save the various tdb files. 2) deinstall samba and openldap and wipe out the bdb files 3) install the newer versions 4) slapadd to the new openldap server This seems to work in my test lab. During my tests I

LDAP setup on Centos 7
I am trying to get LDAP working on my mail server for both user authentication and addressbook purposes. I have tried the tutorials on both http://www.server-world.info/en/note?os=CentOS_7&p=openldap&f=1 and http://albanianwizard.org/ubuntu-10-0-4-lucid-lynx-ldap-configuration-the-working-how-to.albanianwizard (The second one is for Ubuntu, but claimed to be a complete and working

Hello, Hopefully I'm in the right place asking for help :-) I need to move from an old physical Suse 8.2 - samba 2.2.7 + ldap - to latest samba versions, I would like to use an ubuntu 8.04 virtual machine. The domain is in production on the physical server, to be dismissed after migration. It is also the file server!!! so /DATA/ has all shared and permission driven file access.. I was

problem with sambaNextRid (WAS: updating samba/ldap: do I need new attributes?)
Hello, I did the steps described below and I have a problem with machine RIDs. When I first join a machine, samba adds to my sambaDomainName ldap entry a sambaNextRid attribute with a value of 1000. Now samba uses this value (incremented each time) to give its RID to the machine. This is going to be a real problem as my current samba computes RDIs as 1000+2*UID. FWIW I'm using
