Stupid C7 firewall question
Been looking, and haven't found the answer: in c7, is there a firewall-cmd
command, or a systemctl cmd, to check whether ip6tables firewall is

C7 and /etc/sysconfig/network
Does Centos 7 use /etc/sysconfig/network or is this replaced by some
systemctl set of commands.
For example I know to set my host name with:
hostnamectl set-hostname nevia.htt-consult.com
But I don't know if this is the same as
cat <<EOF>/etc/sysconfig/network || exit 1
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=nevia.htt-consult.com

Note: NetworkManager is in CentOS6 too, and is part of the default
workstation install. The NM in CentOS7 is a bit more polished than

iptables.service listed as: not-found inactive dead
Hello fellow CentOS users,
on a freshly installed 7.2 machine and after reading
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/System_Administrators_Guide/chap-Managing_Services_with_systemd.html
I try to enable iptables with following commands:
# cat /etc/centos-release
CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 (Core)
# rpm -qa | grep iptables

How do I list avahi advertisements
how do I find out what avahi services my server is advertising?
I installed avahi-tools and tried
avahi-browse -a (and -ac) and nothing was listed. I find it hard to
believe that my system that has apache up and running is not advertising
anything?

mariadb fails to start under C7
Hey all,
I just unstalled MariaDB version 10 from the mariadb repositories under a
CentOS 7 host.
The install went fine!

Our security experts don't want me to use NetworkManager... It's even uninstalled on the models, so I understand better why all the required files are not here :

File access in Apache 2.4 (clarification)
Folks
I'm having file-access problems in Apache 2.4 under Centos 7. In particular:
- I have a file that's readable to every user and every application,
(writeable by only one user), but my CGI scripts cannot read it.
- Some of my CGI scripts need temporary storage for some files. They
are, for example, some internal log files, tnat get cleaned up over
time, but I want to be able to

I have done what you said and I restarted centos7. It still goes into graph
mode automatically. So what is the step I can do to go into text mode
automatically?

Name to address resolution: A and AAAA records
Hi, I'm installing a few linux clients and one server with samba. The
network addresses are IPv6 in the .local domain.
The avahi-daemon implements de MDSN resolver.
A standard "ping6 -Ieth0 servername.local" generates a "AAAA" query packet
which is correctly responded by the servername.local machine and the ping
works fine.
"smbclient -L servername.local"
