Booting from CD to rescue a DomU
Hi Xen Users,
I would like to boot into a knoppix iso on an existing domU.
In my config file i have:
disk = [
"file:/var/lib/xen/images/machine-10.img,hda,w","file:/mnt/knoppix.iso,
hdb:cdrom,hdb,r" ]
Can''t seem to boot it though. Do I have to go into the VMs BIOS to tell it
to boot it?
Cheers
CHris

SSH connection hang after upgrade
I recently had to upgrade my version of OpenSSH from 4.7 to 5.0p1 on my
MacBook (Darwin). I installed the latest 'portable' tarball and
removed the system version:
$ ssh -V
OpenSSH_5.0p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7l 28 Sep 2006
$ which ssh
/usr/bin/ssh
sshd is the same version, installed in /usr/sbin/sshd. Now, things are
a bit broken: I am able to ssh from another machine into my MacBook,

Can not login with key-exchange is chrooted sftp environment
Hi,
We need to allow log in based on public key generated using ssh-keygen (rsa key) for SFTP with chroot (internal sftp). I am not able to log in with just key exchange. I can login using password.
I am able to log-in with out password for an ssh session unlike sftp session.
Is there a way to login with key-exchange only for internal-sftp with chroot?
Here is the trace

Failure to Launch (was override -q option)
Attached is the very verbose ssh output. Just to be perverse, this time two
nodes lost connectivity. The only thing I see is lines saying that the two
connections are lost, although being honest I have no idea what everything
else means. For reference, 8 ssh cinnections were being made at the same
time for a 8x8mpi task.
N.B., since the OS I am using does not have rsh, I am currently using the

Problems using sftp on HMC IBM system
Hello friends,
I am having some problems using sftp to reach a HMC IBM system. The
connection is suddenly closed and I don't why. Actually I don't know
exactly how to read all these debug information. I would be very glad
with any help on this topic. Here is the full debug output provided from
the command execution:

Re: ssh between DomUs in Xen3.2
Hi Waldirio:
I tried telnet earlier from one DomU to another
[root@localhost ~]# telnet 192.168.17.201 22
Trying 192.168.17.201...
Connected to 192.168.17.201 (192.168.17.201).
Escape character is ''^]''.
and then it just hangs...
So it looks like I can connect to the port from DomU to DomU.
But from Dom0 to a DomU

OpenVMS SSH password expiry woes continue
I sent in a patch a week or so ago for a problem a customer of mine was
seeing when trying to connect to their OpenVMS system with an 3.8.1p2
OpenSSH client (running on a linux box or in cygwin) and trying to login to
an account who had an expired password.
The problem continues although now it has nothing to do with what my patch
handled as they have since upgraded their SSH software on the VMS

Only one chance to enter a new password?
Hello there,
We are using OpenSSH_3.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004 on various
Solaris boxes with PAM and an LDAP server back end.
Recently we have added a requirement for users to have complex
passwords. The problem is, if a user's password has expired, when they
log in they are prompted for a new password (good) but if they enter a
non-complex new password the session is closed rather than

Solaris 8 x86 rsa pubkey auth problem
Hello,
I got some weird problem with public key authentication using rsa key pair.
Let me first of all explain my setup.
1) I got two Solaris 8 x86 boxes
uname -a
SunOS 5.8 Generic_117351-24 i86pc i386 i86pc
<kdc: 192.168.10.11> <---> <module: 192.168.10.10>
2) They're running absolutely identical openssh installations
I'm using pkgsrc, so I've builded all

ssh hangs up
Hi All,
I set a cron to connect to a a server in every 10 minutes.
Sometimes it hangs up and I can not find why. (Once or twice a day)
I tried to set ServerAliveCountMax 3 and ServerAliveInterval 15 in
ssh_config without any success.
The only way to continue is killing the ssh process.
How can I solve this? Any other ssh option that could help?
What happens or should happen when it hangs?

SecurID authentication for 3.6.1p2 with privsep
Hello all,
I have made SecurID authentication for OpenSSH 3.6.1p2.
This patch was totaly rewritten, so please test it before use.
Kbd-int authentication is now integrated into challenge response
auth.
Privsep is now fully suported.
PS: What do you think of selective access to the individual
authentications, similar to AllowGroups/DenyGroups or maybe
AllowUsers/DenyUsers ?

ssh trouble checklist
Hi.
There should be a checklist of everything that can go wrong with
making an ssh connection.
Here's one entry for the list, which I didn't know before, and
* I couldn't see the problem from the -ddd and -vvv output, and
* there were no /var/log/* file entries to give hints.
Here's what I did
sudo kill <pid-of-sshd>
/usr/sbin/sshd
No good.
Usually I did kill

Unrelated (was RE: so-called-hang-on-exit)
"ssh -n ..." means ssh will close stdin and open /dev/null for stdin. It does not mean losing th eoutput of ssh.

Q: respecting .ssh/id_rsa
chmod 0700 .ssh
chmod 0600 .ssh/*
Keys can fail if you don't have that setup correctly.
Also do:
grep sshd /var/log/audit/audit.log| audit2allow -m sshd
# Will let you see what modules it will create.
grep sshd /var/log/audit/audit.log| audit2allow -M sshd
# Creates the modules
semodule -I sshd.pp
grep ssh /var/log/audit/audit.log| audit2allow -m ssh
# Will let you see what modules it

question on using keys
I've read man ssh and man ssh-keygen and some howtos and still am not getting what I expect.
I can do ssh john at 192.168.15.3 and login with a password OK.
I want to be able to do that with keys in preparation for running rsync with keys, so I created
a key on router1, the machine I want to ssh from.
