Samba serving files with *very* long access times
I access files on our Cray T3E from my Windows 2000 PC via a Samba share.
One of the volumes on the T3E is managed by Cray's Data Migration facility
(DMF). The majority of the DMF files are stored off-line and restored to
disk as necessary. This operation typically takes 3-5 minutes.
Normally when a Windows 2000 application tries to read data from one of the
off-line files--even if it's

Framemaker 7.0 Is Alive
Thanks to a patch from Dmitry Timoshkov, I was able to get Framemaker 7.0 to
start up and run. I am using a Demonstration License so your milage may vary,
but I was able to wake-up Framemaker and do basic stuff.

Procedure:
1. Download Wine 20031212
2. Apply patch to dlls/ntdll/virtual.c -

FW: Was: Win98SE and Samba 2.0.10 Problems
Well as a further to my last, I broke down and put a copy of Win98SE on a
spare HDD in my Mandrake server box. First moment it was up and running, I
tried to transfer the files between the two problem computers and BINGO! It
worked. So sadly I must assume that the problem must lie on my Linux server
:(
As I have previously tried both Mandrake 8.0 and Redhat 7.1 and end up with
the same transfer

accessing variables inside a function, inside a loop
dear list!
I KNOW this has been answered a million times before. But, as some might
remember from their "freelance" times as a statistic consultant,
sometimes you're blinded by the facts. I KNOW I have seen this problem
solved, but due to the mental blockade i have been suffering from the
last 3 hours, I can neither find the answer on the mailing list nor on
google. I wrote a

poweredge 1850 won't boot 7.1? maybe LSI-related : amr0: adapter is busy
Hello All,
I encountered the same problem as reported to this list earlier,
http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2009-February/048305.html,
but then with 7.1-RELEASE-p4.
Interestingly enough, FreeBSD booted fine on the machine installed
(updated from 7.0 to 7.1-RELEASE-p4).
This machine is a PowerEdge 1850 bios A04 with Perc 43/Si bios H430 /
fwVer 521S.
