Boot Failure [Solved]
I writ:
"The latest kernel kernel-3.10.0.229.1.2.el7.x86_64 appears not to like
our Supermicro X9SBAA-F board. It fails on boot with the last message
before panic being apic_timer_interupt ...." <snipped rest>
It turned out that only one X9SBAA box was affected.
Deleting and reinstalling the kernel did not fix the issue.
The problem turned out to be the old "initrd"

[LLVMdev] Performance problems with FORTRAN allocatable arrays
I've noticed that LLVM does a bad job of optimizing array indexing
code for FORTRAN arrays declared using the ALLOCATABLE keyword.
For example if you have something like the following:
DOUBLE PRECISION,ALLOCATABLE,DIMENSION(:,:,:,:) :: QAV
...
ALLOCATE( QAV( -2:IMAX+2,-2:JMAX+2,-2:KMAX+2,ND) )
...
DO L = 1, 5
DO K = K1, K2
DO J = J1, J2

Info on OpenSSH lastest vuln. ?
Hi,
it seems that there is a vulnerability in OpenSSH including version 3.3. Using
privilege separation do not fix the problem but fail the intruder in the chroot
of the sshd daemon. The OpenBSD team announce that they will release a new
version 3.4 on monday that fix the vulnerability.
Will a new version of portable OpenSSH be also release on monday ? Or could we
already upgrade to v3.3 and

Lastest SVN (1.4) and realtime call limit
Hello,
I am running version 1.4 with realtime support. I've set (for Snom phones
300/320/360) a call limit of 1 (incominglimit and outgoinglimit fields in the
database).
- When I used 1.4 SIP SHOW PEER show that it has a call limit of 1. The problem
was that when such a phone received a call and did attended transfer it
was left "in use" and could not receive new calls.

Lastest upgrade of smb on RedHat doesn't work
The latest upgrade of from samba 3.0.9 to samba 3.0.10 has caused
problems on my samba server.
On the Windows computers you can no longer see the WINS server ( the
RedHat server) in the Network Neighborhood, say server1. The
printers that we have added through the network neighborhood no
longer work.
One has to search for the full name of the server
( server1.xxx.xxx.edu) with the

FW: [Mongrel] Broken win32 service support for lastest mongrels.
Hi all,
I''ve forwarded this from the Mongrel mailing list to see if anyone has
any thoughts. In summary, Luis is hitting broken pipe errors on
occasion when he tries to stop a service. In a later email Luis
mentions that simply ignoring them might not always be the best idea,
since sometimes the service seems to no longer respond, even though it
still appears to be running fine.

random sample set for regression
Hi,
I'm not a programmer, so I have a question about R functions,
I run the Random Forest regression models, but
I would like to run the random forest model 1000 times with different
random sample set. to check the uncertainty of the regression model
estimates.
exemple of data:

Y: all$AGB
X variables:
Variables=as.matrix(all[, c( "min",

Zaptel not compiling on lastest Centos 4.2 kernel.
Hi,
I made a big mistake on a Centos 4.2 box - I forgot to exclude the
kernel from updating. Now zaptel will not do a "make linux26" see below.
Is there a way to roll this back or is there a patch to get Zaptel to
compile? I have a link to the modules using 'ln -s /lib/modules/uname
-r/build linux-2.6" so that I did not have to specifiy the kernel
version directly.

Broken win32 service support for lastest mongrels.
Ok, this might sound bad... well, actually it is.
I''m my rewrite of mongrel_rails_service and provide a uniform set of
commands in the line of gem_plugin commands, found a few issues while
stopping the service.
Thinking that rails (1.1.2) was responsable, tested against my 1.0.0
rails app, both with the same results.
Again, reverted to mongrel 0.3.8, when services was working ok, with
