/etc/locale.conf is ignored
It seems that /etc/locale.conf is ignored in Centos 7. As a traditionalist who prefers things sorted lexicographically rather than indiscriminately with case ignored and dates to be displayed in the form "Sep 11 2008", I have always added lines to this file: $ cat /etc/locale.conf LANG="en_US.UTF-8" # Fix collating sequence for sort and ls export LC_COLLATE=C #

r8712u wireless driver
I've just installed centos 6.3 for the first time on a test machine and couldn't be happier - except that a critical wireless adapter driver is missing - the r8712u. I would love to convert my mythtv machine from Fedora 17 to centos 6.3 to put all that chaos and instability behind me. My mythtv machine connects only wirelessly to the rest of my network and uses a Rosewill RNX-N180UBE USB

How to avoid "firstboot" in CentOS 7 kickstart
Dear Experts, Sorry about taking shortcut and asking everybody... My question is: how do you avoid "firstboot" screen in latest CentOS 7.3 kickstart. I have installed about a dozen of CentOS 7 (none of which was 7.3) with that kickstart file. None of them ever went to firstboot screen on first boot. Now after kickstart installation of CentOS 7.3 it goes into firstboot screen showing

Annoying license at install
Folks I have several remotely-located servers, donated by folks not all of whom are computer geeks, let-alone Linux aware. In earlier versions of Centos, I directed them to perform a minimal NetInstall (not too difficult to direct over the phone), and then issue two commands after the first boot. One was a 'curl' to download a script of mine, and the second was a dot-command to run

1stboot stuff?
Will anything break if you never log into the console after the initial reboot? I just installed my first copy in a VM, and connected over ssh as I normally would for all access after the install. But I just happened to leave the console window open and later noticed that it was prompting for license acceptance which I didn't see in the ssh login. On a more typical install, no one will

Does Huawei break the license of CentOS?
Hello, Peter, thanks for your reply 1. Huawei DOES change the distribution EULA, if type in the following command: vi /usr/share/eula/eula.en_US you can see it changed to "HUAWEI EulerOS-2.0" which is a copyright one, let alone original GPL license. According to CentOS Linux EULA The Distribution is released as GPLv2. Individual packages in the distribution come with their own

[PATCH v2 1/2] xenconsoled: use grant references instead of map_foreign_range
Grant references for the xenstore and xenconsole shared pages exist, but currently only xenstore uses these references. Change the xenconsole daemon to prefer using the grant reference over map_foreign_range when mapping the shared console ring. This allows xenconsoled to be run in a domain other than dom0 if set up correctly - for libxl, the xenstore path /tool/xenconsoled/domid specifies the

Install vTPM on Xen-4.2.2
Hi, I‘m trying to install vTPM based on Xen-4.2.2, linux-kernel 3.9.1 (Dom0) and TPM emulator. However, I cannot find the TPM backed driver in this version of Dom0 linux kernel. There is no CONFIG_XEN_TPMDEV_BACKEND in the kernel config file. The config file for Dom0 is attached. Maybe it provides some useful information. So, how to install a Xen TPM backend driver in the Dom0 linux-kernel.

2.6.37 dom0 under Xen 4.1 clocksource not working
When booting 2.6.37 (from kernel.org) under Xen 4.1, there are apparently issues with timer interrupts being delivered to the dom0. Repeatedly causing an interrupt (for example, the ACPI power button) will allow the system to boot, as does adding "clocksource=jiffies" to the kernel command line. This is only present under Xen, not when booting the same kernel on real hardware. When boot
