Um no?
systemctl set-default multi-user.target
All you have to do is set the target to reach... what the above
command does is symlink default.target to the chosen target.

A little help with default resolution of CentOS7 and Panasonic TV
Hi, everyone.
tldr: How in the heck do I force CentOS7 to boot to a low/conservative GDM
resolution?
Hoping someone can lend a hand getting CentOS7 to sync to my Panasonic
Vierra 42' TV. It worked fine in CentOS6.5 but since installing I boot to a
GDM background with no login prompt. I can SSH into the node and configure
multiuser runlevel but that's not fun at all. ;)

I have done what you said and I restarted centos7. It still goes into graph
mode automatically. So what is the step I can do to go into text mode
automatically?

Do you mean the runlevel? If so, are you sure that you changed it correctly?
Centos 7 doesn't use runlevels set in inittab like previous versions did. I see that fact is actually noted in /etc/inittab, along with the expected way to do it.

Launching X-Windows at different runelvels
Hi all,
I need to launch X-Windows at runlevel 4 and 5. CentOS only start up x-windows
at runlevel by default. I have modified /etc/inittab to accomplish this:
x:4:respawn:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon
x:5:respawn:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon
But this returns errors every time that start and stop system ... Which is the
correct form to launch x-windows under centos at different runlevels??

Installing nVidia driver on remote CentOS 4
Hi,
There's a linux cluster somewhere (using Rocks), and I use remote
desktop (nxmachine) to do the work on the frontend of the cluster. The
desktop is Gnome. And, I intend to install new nVidia driver, but it
requires me to stop the X Server. I check around the internet, they say
we can use the /etc/init.d/gdm stop, but I can't run it since the gdm
file does not exist. Another alternative

Debian DomU with physdev access init kernel crash ....
Hi Folks,
I saw some references to the same problem in mailing list but no solution.
I am running a DomU with PHYSDEV access. With fedora core 4, I just changed
the inittab file to not start getty''s on tty1-6, and it worked (only ttyS0
is enabled). However, same trick didn''t do it for debian. I can boot into a
shell if I put init=/bin/bash on kernel command line. However,
