Cyrus 2.4 and Centos6
Is there a reason why you need 2.4 vs. the 2.3 package from the CentOS6 repos? Best way to install non-official packages?
Sooner or later everyone needs to install a package that is not included on the official installation CDs/DVD. Until now I just used rpmseek.com and Rpmfind.Net but of course this is far from optimal for security and compatibility to reasons. So what is the recommended way to get and install "non official" packages that are not part of the repository?! Thorsten

Update on "Shift-Return causes segfault (PR#3293)"
Hi all, I don't read this list, so if anyone wants to respond could they please copy me so that I see what is happening. After several exchanges between myself, Marc Schwartz and Peter Dalgaard, we have come to the following conclusions: a) Shift-Return does not cause a segfault on most terminals, only Kde's Konsole. b) The bug is easily reproducable there. c) The "real"

Logging using upslog problem
I upgraded from V2.2 to V2.4. I use the "upslog" command to log the values of my belkin ups (belkinunv via serial port). It would occasionally start to record garbage, but it would always go back to normal in V2.2 if I restarted. In V2.4 it would not record the values, and the process would fail after the next interval had passed. I had set if for 300 seconds. I walked through the

replacement for start-stop-daemon on CentOS
Hi Folks, I'd like to use "start-stop-daemon" on my centos-machine. I know , it's debian-like. But I can't find "startproc" on my machine nor in the repos. What is the CentOS-replacement for "start-stop-daemon"? Thx Timothy P.S. I found a start-stop-daemon.c script - but how to compile it? gcc start-stop-daemon.c ends in much errors.

Samba 3.0.11 smbd hangs
Hi Guys, I have experienced an issue when the smbd stops responding, and after cannot kill the process, using SIGTERM or SIGKILL. A reboot cured the problem. I had the same problem once again a couple of days later. I realised that both times I had changed my smb.conf file directly, using vi, and shortly before the hang occured. The changes to the file were very minor, and the two were

Package: virt-goodies - partly solved
For CentOS KVM migrations use the virt-v2v package part of base. Seeing the IP addresses of domUs from dom0
Using a default xen3.0.1 setup for dom0(rhel4 distro) and domUs (gentoo, rhel4, centos4.2 distros, ttylinux) with the domUs all having dhcp turned on, is there an easy way to tell from within the dom0 what ip addresses were assigned to the domUs after bootup? KDE-Repos
Hi Folks, I'm verry impressed about CentOS 5. Verry stable und fast. And yes, I know, it's mostly used as a server system. Nevertheless, I'd like to use it as my Desktopsystem also. My question: what is your experience with the KDE-Repos? Is it dangerous to use it? Or is it reliable? Thx Timothy

Dovecot MTA
Hi all, I've never really wanted to create my own MTA, because I like Postfix quite a lot. And I always thought it would require a horribly lot of time to be able to create something that was anywhere even close to having Postfix's features. (I would shudder to even think about recreating Dovecot from scratch nowadays.) But slowly over time I've also been thinking of ways how things
