Dell R320 server
Is there a way on Dell R320 (two power supplies and hardware RAID-1) on
centos
to get a message that a power supply is failing or that one of the
hardware RAID disks is failing?
Sure there is the front panel - but no-one is there ...
Is that reported to linux/centos some way?
This is my first R320.
Thanks,
Jerry

what is "single spanned virtual disk" on RAID10????
We have DELL R910 with H800 adapter in it. several MD1220 connect to H800.
Since MD1220 have 24 hard disks in it. When I configured RAID10, there is a choice call 'single spanned virtual disk" (22 disks).
Can anyone tell me how "single spanned virtual disk" work?
Any document relate to it?
Thanks.

Dirves going offline in Zpool
Hi,
I have Dell md1200 connected to two heads ( Dell R710 ). The heads have
Perc H800 card and drives are configured in Raid0 ( Virtual Disk) in the
RAID controller.
One of the drives had crashed and is replaced by a spare. Resilvering was
triggered but fails to complete due to drives going offline. I have to
reboot the head ( R710) and drives comes online. This happened repeatedly

wait, you originally said HP SmartArrray P800. Now, its a Dell PERC
H800? I'm confused.

PowerEdge R510 with PERC H200/H700 with ZFS
Anyone have any experience with a R510 with the PERC H200/H700 controller
with ZFS?
My perception is that Dell doesn''t play well with OpenSolaris.
Thanks,

Dell R515 with PERC H700 - JBOD?
Hello, I'm curiuos if anyone knows if it's possible to set up a Dell R515 (which has PERC H700) to be JBOD.
It seems the only options are RAID0 or RAID1.
I read posts, where people say it can by done by making each disk its own RAID0.? This works, but it wigs out when that disk is removed, and forgets a disk was ever there (unless I go back in the PERC and fix it).
My plan is to have a

Dell PERC H800 commandline RAID monitoring tools
We're looking for tools to be used in monitoring the PERC H800 arrays on
a set of database servers running CentOS 5.5.
We've installed most of the OMSA (Dell monitoring) suite.
Our current alerting is happening through SNMP, though it's a bit hit or
miss (we apparently missed a couple of earlier predictive failure alerts
on one drive).
OMSA conflicts with mega-cli, though we may

The layout is that the Dell RAID is dual-pathed DAS. Each PERC has two DAS

slow bootloader on Dell R320
Hi all !
Thanks for the very good support of Dell R320 hardware, perc H310 is
well supported, BCM5720 seems to work correctly and performances are
great.
The only problem i have found is very strange. The FreeBSD bootloader
take many times to load, 30sec-2minutes to boot the kernel and show the
bootloader menu. After that, the system boots properly, at a normal
speed.
Is there any issue or

Any recommendations on Perc H700 controller on Dell Rx10 ?
Hi folks:
At work, I have an R510, and R610 and an R710 - all with the H700 PERC
controller.
Based on experiments, it seems like there is no way to bypass the PERC
controller - it seems like one can only access the individual disks if
they are set up in RAID0 each.
This brings me to ask some questions:
a. Is it fine (in terms of an intelligent controller coming in the way
of ZFS) to have the

CentOS 6 and an SAS drive, hardware
This is... odd. Got a 6.8 box, a Dell R320 lspci tells me
01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2008
[Falcon] (rev 03)
so it *should* accept an SAS drive. I've got a Cheetah that's a few years
old, and having pulled it out of another server (in the datecenter), I put
it in this box to zero it out for reuse... and the box refuses to see the
drive. *Nothing* in

Experience with Xen & AMD Opteron 4200 series?
Hey,
I am currently considering a two machine Xen setup based on AMD Opterons,
more precisely Dell R515s or R415s with dual Opteron 4274HE.
Does anyone has some Xen setup(s) running on top of Opterons 4274HE,
Opteron 4200 or Dell R515 machines and is willing to share some experience?
In particular, I am interested in using Debian squeeze (Xen 4.0.1, Linux
2.6.32) for dom0 and most domUs.

dimensioning
I have been trying to get a feel for scaling or dimensioning using asterisk
11.
if I desire to use something like a dell r320, hardware RAID, 2G E5-2420,
4G RAM
and only SIP trunking using gsm (least bandwidth and no transcoding)
how many calls "out" can I expect to make at one time and asterisk still
be OK and responsive?
Thanks,
Jerry

no transcoding or anything. Just call a number and play a gsm file.
Thanks,

Dell portability
Howdy,
I built an LXC container with an "image" of asterisk 11.18 precompiled
and installed. It runs fine on the dev platform, which is a Dell R320
running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I shutdown the container, tarred it up, and
untarred on a Dell PE1850, also running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. The container
itself is Ubuntu 14.04LTS. Both platforms as far as I know are amd64.
The container boots

the SAS 6/iR is a LSI SAS 1068E chip, kind of an old chip (the 1068
stuff was long ago replaced by 2008, 2308, and now 30xx stuff). The SAS
