Renaming NIC name in CentOS 7
All,
I am trying to understand better how you give an interface a more descriptive name and get it all working without a reboot, if possible.
We have 1G and 10G interfaces, and I?m trying to use names like 1G-internal, 1G-external, 10G-private, etc. When I boot up, it?s all fine, but if I add one I?m not sure if there is a way to avoid the reboot? For example, I added the 10G interface names

Remote Desktop Recommendations
Folks
I'm looking for a way to access a GUI desktop on a Centos 7 server
from a Windows client. I have tried:
- X2go from EPEL (fails immediately, apparently they are working on a
solution, but...)
- Freenx (doesn't exist for EL7)
Both the above work fine with Centos 6.
Are there any known working solutions?
Thanks...

AD order of installation
I don't see the following at
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller
There is an 'order' of installation for an AD. Some things must come
before others, some things can come when you may. Here is my take based
on what I have learned over the past weeks:
OS installation (listed for completeness, even though this is a 'dah' item).

pfSense DHCP integration with Samba AD DDNS
Hi Rowland,
I don't want to to run an AD DC on firewall device, barely DHCP and
maybe DNS.
What you have pointed me to is similar to what I have in place:
https://blog.michael.kuron-germany.de/2011/02/isc-dhcpd-dynamic-dns-updates-against-secure-microsoft-dns/
and which is working fine.
NOW I want to switch DHCP from isc-dhcp-server 4.2.2 on Debian to DHCP
on pfSense firewall (based on

my relay will be smtp.fastmail.com and it requires authentication and
SSL, are there added settings in main.cf that will allow this?
Thanks

SELinux and samba/winbind w/ADS on RHEL 4.6
SELinux appears to be interfering with winbind's functionality.
I have the lastest policy package installed:
selinux-policy-targeted-1.17.30-2.149
which allegedly solves this problem according to the RedHat knowledge
base, but clearly does not. I have to turn off SELinux by using
setenforce 0 (permissive) to get winbind to work at all, and based on
what I see in the log files,

pfSense DHCP integration with Samba AD DDNS
Hi all,
Has anybody got it working?
My struggle is briefly described here but the pfSense community is dead
silent:

Good point. As I run on an armv7 with no battery rtc, I have to get
time sync going before doing practically anything. It much depends on
how your system resolves before local DNS is running.

[Off topic] sending mail from Comcast was: Sendmail not working
OK, I've fired up a new VM, new CentOS 7 install, now I get this:
# rpm -qf `which sendmail`
postfix-2.10.1-7.el7.x86_64
Can you point me to how to set this up properly? Note that I won the
psalm19pix.com domain, it's hosted at fastmail.com, and as far as I know
requires SSL. Can I setup sendmail to use this as it's SMPT connection?
Thanks again...

Upgrading to TINN - R 2.1.1.6
I know this has been addressed before, but I'm still confused by the
solution.
When running TINN - R (ver 2.1.1.6) with R (2.8.0) I have lost the

It returns an error

Upgrading To 2.10 from 2.6.2
Hello
I have a Linux machine (Ubuntu 8.04 hardy, Gcc version 4.2.4
(i486-linux-gnu) currently running R 2.6.2. I'd like to upgrade to 2.10.
First Question): What is the appropriate way to remove the old version of
R?
Part 2.
After downloading r-base_2.10.0.orig.tar.gz and opening the archive. I
ran the ./configure routine.
It failed claiming that it could not find the F77 compiler.
