Wich web browser on CentOS6 ?
Hello I have more and more troubles using firefox in professional environment with CentOS6. The latest version is 45.7.0 But I can't use it anymore to access some old server hardware (IDRAC7 of DELL C6100) because of "/SSL_ERROR_WEAK_SERVER_CERT_KEY/". I had to install an old Firefox32 version to administrate these servers. Today I upgrade the firmware of 2 DELL switch and now

migrating Samba PDC to a new server
Hi, I'd like to migrate Samba 3.0.24-6etch10 PDC running on a Debian server to a new Ubuntu server. I plan to install Samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4 on the new server and then copy the files in /etc/samba and /var/lib/samba and copy the related Linux users in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow. Will it work? First off, Johnny and all of the rest of the CentOS team, thank you for your efforts! Second, to all with this problem, I too experienced the issue (I posted on the CentOS-Devel list my findings).? New C7 kernel ABI and kmods
All, This is just a heads-up that the new C7 update kernel breaks ABI compatibility, at least as far as using the ELrepo nVidia drivers is concerned. I have posted more details to the ELrepo list; but since many folks use the Elrepo kmods I thought a heads-up would be appropriate. If you use the ELrepo nvidia kmod you will either need to hold off on the kernel update or uninstall the nvidia

Upstream 6.2
As much as I hate to be the bearer of news, I saw over 400 updates this morning on my upstream 6.1 box.... checking the upstream website, yeah, EL6.2 is out, at least for updates. I didn't see ISO's in my subscribed channel yet, though. I figured someone would notice soon enough. So before anyone goes into flame mode, think about the difficulties that have faced the CentOS developers in

Checksums for git repo content?
Hi all, Since the vault for 7.3.1611 has been cleared out last sunday (20170207) - why is that? - I'm using git to download a "SRPM", or more accurately, its contents. However, using git has one major drawback: It is missing checksums for the files. Are there any plans to provide checksums for the files in git so I can be sure that what I download is actually not tampered with?

does it make sense to run rsync over ftp (curlftpfs)?
Hi, It seems to work but very slowly. I guess it's because rsync has to read the complete file content on the remote host, so does it make any sense at all to do it over FTP? ----- -- Kent Tong Wicket tutorials freely available at http://www.agileskills2.org/EWDW Axis2 tutorials freely available at http://www.agileskills2.org/DWSAA -- View this message in context:

Suspiciously broken filesystem
I appear to have a broken filesystem on this box to the point where I am probably going to rebuild the system since I have lost trust in it.... I was wondering if there was any reasonable postmortum work I could do on it before it gets rebuilt. History is that the laptop has a much mauled partition set on it - initially it came with 100% win2k, I then shrunk that and added linux (a RH71 install

Need a bit of 'archeocomputing' help on CentOS 7.
I have an application with is binary-only, does its job well, and is only available for either libc5 (!) or early early glibc2.0 (!!). It has been running on a Red Hat Linux 5.2 (NOT RHEL; RHL) server for a really long time, and it honestly does its job and it's not easily replaced by an open-source solution at the moment. So, I need to do one of the following things: 1.) Run Red Hat

prototype causing value undefined error
I have a project for which I used a Wicket template as a starting point. The original example uses prototype.js. I''m using an SVG image as a background and have included a javascript that causes the image to always fill the background, regardless of the client window dimensions. This works fine in Safari 3 (Firefox doesn''t display the background image, but I''ll deal

kvm-qemu-ev in testing
hi, kvm-qemu-ev from virt7-kvm-common-release is now signed and available on buildlogs.centos.org for testing, the corresponding release file is available in the centos/7/extras/ location on buildlogs as well. Once we have some testing, we can push and announce via mirror.centos.org for wider adoption. Regards, -- Karanbir Singh +44-207-0999389 | http://www.karan.org/ | twitter.com/kbsingh

CR getting 7.2 packages......
Heads-up to everyone: CR is getting CentOS 7.1511 (aka '7.2') packages..... just updated using CR, and, yeah, GNOME 3.14 is a bit different from 3.8...... several things are in different places on the screen. I did have to re-setup my triple monitor settings to have the laptop's display in the center and the two other displays as one on the left and one on the right. The good

Kernel panic, CentOS 7.1503 fully updated, with executing gkrellm.
Just a heads up, since I know gkrellm is in EPEL and not in the main CentOS repos. However, something fairly fundamental has changed, as prior to updating, gkrellm worked fine, but now every time I execute gkrellm the kernel panics. I'm going to triage on a different machine, as the panic corrupted at least one system library used by nautilus, but rpm -Va is your friend in these
