what is CodeMeter and why is it running on my CentOS box?
I just stumbled over /var/log/CodeMeter, which contains a number of large log files. I know I'm getting old and forgetful, but I can't remember intentionally installing that package. Yum just says "installed" instead of listing a repo. Looking at codemeter.com, it seems to work with something called a "cm stick". I don't have one, don't want one, and never

Sound input on C7
Hi all! I've just spent a frustrating hour trying to get audio to come out of the speakers, where the input is via a cable from the headphone jack of my Sansa Sandisk player. I'm usin the Mate desktop (yes, I know, centos doesn't support it, so this may more properly be a question for EPEL...) and the Mate Volume control Applet. I've got it configured to use the front panel mic

C7 and NVIDIA driver
Hi James, I tried as suggested installing cuda but the problem persist. In a previous c7.5 installation all works as expected but the driver was less then 390.77. So installing latest cuda nvidia driver for suggested links does not work. What other can I try? Anyone installed the amazon downloader on 5.1?
Just tried to install the Amazon-downloader on Centos 5.1 (the Fedora 8 version, which seems the closest match of any they offer). Of course it gets a bazillion unfulfilled dependencies. so I tried "yum localinstall ./a*m" and it trundles along for a while finding several of the packages available then spews out this: Error: Missing Dependency: libboost_date_time.so.3 is needed by

SYSCALL problem in C7
Hi all! I know this isn't a devel list, but thought someone here may have a clue I could use... I have a fairly big application that runs on Centos 7 (and 6 and 5). Sometimes (not often, but too often) when running under the ddd debugger, while sitting stopped at a breakpoint, it will suddenly spew an apparent segfault in, as it says at the top of the source file, "Assembly code

Screensavers on Centos-7
Hi all! I keep having problems with screensaver(s) on Centos-7. I have in the past liked Xscreensaver, so I've installed it and tried to suppress whatever other screensaver is on the system. Xscreensaver works fine for a day or 20 then quits working. After a lengthy battle I gave up and removed it. I'm now trying mate-screensaver, which does the same thing! when I say "quits

C7: screensaver locks screen
Strange thing just began happening this past weekend with my Centos-7 netbook (using the MATE desktop, which may mean it's an EPEL problem...). the lock screen checkbox in the screensaver's UI is NOT checked. I've even used the dconf editor to uncheck ALL the boxes in the screensaver section that relate to locking the screen. nada. no such luck. even after rebooting, it still locks

installing C7 on a laptop with Win7, dual boot
Hi all! I've just installed C7 on my netbook that already contained Win7 (and also Fedora 19, which the C7 is intended to replace). The Fedora installer had found the windows installation and it appeared in the grub menu, and was bootable and worked fine. The C7 installer did not put the windows installation into the grub menu. with some googling I found a page at
