sambaldap tools
Hi samba admins, I don?t know is this the right place for my question, but I can?t find a list for my problem. I have some trobble to configure the smbldap-tools. I have download and copy the scripts to /usr/local/sbin. But a /usr/local/sbin/smbldap-useradd.pl testuser breaks with this error message: get_user_dn2: error in ldapsearch : /usr/bin/ldapsearch -x -h _SLAVELDAP_ -D '_BINDDN_'

Ldapscripts v1.0 !
Hi all, I've been working on shell scripts that allow to manage ldap accounts (users, groups, machines). They are similar to the smbldap-tools but do not need PERL to work (and so on...) and are *very* simple to configure - they may be a good alternative. The only tools you need are standard ldap client commands (ldapadd, ldapdelete, ldapmodify, ldapsearch). The scripts can be used as

syncrepl in OpenLDAP 2.3.x (CentOS 5) and updating on a replica
Hi, I have a setup with two CentOS 5 machines running OpenLDAP 2.3.x, right now the primary uses slurpd to send the updates to the second server, and the second server is using "updatedn" to allow updates (from what I understand! I'm no OpenLDAP guru here.) Clients are using pam_ldap and nss_ldap to get the users and authenticate them in LDAP. Right now hosts query only the primary

ldap idmap backend
Hi all, i use Samba 3.5.6 in ads mode (Windows 2008R2) with ldap idmap backend. Servers run Centos 4 and 5. I can't cope with next issue for long time. On all servers in domain winbind constantly tries to create mapping for <SID>-513 and fails because of already existing entry. It just wastes gid range. Note that <SID> is not SID of main domain but another which name equal to

SSSD with 389DS
Hi! We are setting up an environment with two 389DS configured as master-consumer. The DIT holds about 70.000 user records. A couple of other machines running SSSD will be using the 389DS setup for all user info lookups that would normally go to passwd/shadow. There are also other applications that will be querying the 389DS for various other user data. All servers are running CentOS6. In

How to configuring 389ds to the backed user authentication on Samba-ad

A Samba AD domain can totally replace your 389-ds and pgina setup. As for pgina, I thought it was dead, which the original is (okay, it hasn't had any updates for

How to configuring 389ds to the backed user authentication on Samba-ad
Hi, I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question. I am looking for some guidance on whether Samba-ad can be (or should be) configured using ldap (389-ds) as the back end for user authentication in a production environment. I have come across a few forums and went through you?re documentation pages but the information isn?t clear so thought to ask the question directly to the

New LDAP puppet provider using ldapmodify, ldapadd, ldapdelete etc.
Hi all, I use openldap and it''s newer slapd.d style of housing the configuration (as opposed to /etc/openldap/slapd.conf ). As such, to modify the config, the database itself, I''d prefer to use ldapmodify and ldapadd commands. I couldn''t find an existing ldap provider to nicely manage database entries (DNs), so I wrote one. It essentially does this: -

Access denied error when trying to join XP to Samba Domain
Hi everyone, I know this one has been addressed before. I have had so much trouble getting the IDEALX scripts to work that I set about writing my own and they almost work. The trouble is with the add machine script. The first time I do the join, I get an access denied error message on WinXP. I have verified that an entry for the machine was successfully created in ldap. Then, I try again

Bugfix for idealx smbldap-tools
Hi. When I tried to setup my LDAP I used the smbldap-tools from idealx. I discovered some errors which made the tools unusable for me. Here's a fix for the bugs I discovered: a) I decided to use a suffix in the LDAP which contains spaces, ie. I used something like "o=My Org,c=DE". Because the suffix wasn't quoted in the various calls in the tools, this didn't work. b) It

joing machines "Kristyan Osborne"
Hi, I have the same error message as Kristyan Osborne's original post. What I did was I removed the machine account from smbpasswd and passwd and created same account names, joined the domain again and somehow it worked again. I am running Samba 2.2.5 and I was wondering if this could be a bug. Regards, Dominic Original message: <<< Message: 17 Date: Mon, 2 Sep 2002 10:24:36
