Difficulties getting Windows 2000 and NT working with Samba on Redhat 8
Having set up the Windows clients and Samba (version 2.2.5-10) with a 'tmp' share the share cannot be accessed from the Windows clients. On the Windows clients, after attempting to map a network drive to the Samba share using Windows Explorer the message 'No service is operating at the destination network endpoint on the remote system' is diplayed. I believe I have checked all

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Oh, I wouldn't flame you. Hmm, I didn't think of using a virtual machine. The Lenovo has a NVidia 960MX, so I wonder if it would fully work under a virtual machine. The reason why I ask is that I do systems adminstration with meteorological software that requires OpenGL 2.0 and at least 2GB of video ram. Thank you for your reply, Mike. CentOS 6.10 Boot Xorg Issues with Kernels 2.6.32-754
Hello, Ever since I updated my CentOS 6 machine from 6.9 to 6.10 Xorg will not start with the 2.6.32-754 kernels. Instead the computer will reboot. This issue does not exist with the 2.6.32-696.30.1 kernel from CentOS 6.9 that I still have on my system. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so, how did you rectify it? Thank you for any help. Brian Bernard

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Hello Brain, for such new software you go with Centos 7. The older version is more rocket stable, but in case you use such new laptop the newer one is the better / best choice. You need to upgrade the kernel, there is no way out. Centos deliver ?only? 2.6 or 3.10. http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-lt or http://elrepo.org/tiki/kernel-ml can fix this. - Totem and multimedia isn?t work fully.

Update from 6.6 to 6.7 > automount logs error message
Hello, after an update from 6.6 to 6.7 the following error message is logged to /var/log/messages when I login (per ssh): Aug 11 16:31:21 a1234 automount[1598]: set_tsd_user_vars: failed to get passwd info from getpwuid_r Checked all log-files of my systems running 6.6 with same configuration -- never got such a message (We use NFS/autofs for home-directories, NIS and tcsh (login shell)).

login shell not found "bug"
Hello folks at OpenSSH, I recently encountered a behavior of your software (it doesn't really deserve the name of "bug") that may be so rare that it is not worth correcting--however, if it was corrected, it would have saved me many hours of anguish. I recently set up a new PC with Ubuntu 6.10 and connected to my office NIS domain. Unfortunately, when I tried to log in via SSH with

Real sh? Or other efficient shell for non-interactive scripts

I'm reasonably certain that a script with no shebang will run with /bin/sh. I interpret your statement to mean that if a user is using ksh and enters the path to such a script, it would also run in ksh. That would only be true if you

Speex wishlist
Hi, Speex is getting close to beta4, which I'd like to be feature-complete (or as close as possible). That's why I'd like to ask if anyone here has needs for a feature that hasn't been implemented yet. If so, please let me know. For those interested, here's what's going to be in beta4. First, the VBR code has been greatly improved and now works good with wideband too.

Hard time installing printers 3.4.8
Hello, been googling this for a while. Read GD's presentation on why printing is such a pain... Anyway, I'm using 3.4.8 on Freebsd 8.1 I've tried a few combinations - best luck is with 3.2.5, but I'd like to move forward a bit. So, I've got the ADS part working pretty good. happy with how that's going. my problem is when I attempt to load printer drivers.

smbldap-passwd does not update samba password
Hi, On CentOS 7, when I execute smbldap-passwd to change password it does change LDAP password but _NOT_ Samba password. This is true while running smbldap-passwd either as a regular user or a root. Any idea what can be wrong on my server? Thanks, Bernard

smbldap-passwd does not update samba password
I have never heard of ACI before and I really do not know what it is. In the other hand, what does this have do to with the passwords in Samba? Obviously, there are many things I do not know about LDAP and Samba but I have to manage it....
