Need amendment - I_need_the_Kernel_Source
The I_need_the_Kernel_Source wiki article should have instructions to do the procedure as non-root. Installing the source as root may not be as dangerous as compiling something, but nevertheless it is not recommended and is not consistent with the contents of other related articles. Akemi

Create page about rebuilding SRPMS and preparing RPM environment
Hello, As discussed on the centos-users list, I would like to create some pages on the CentOS Wiki with instructions on how to set up your environment to build RPMs and how to rebuild RPMs. This content today exists here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source#head-a8dae925eec15786df9f6f8c918eff16bf67be0d I would suggest creating these two: 1)

CentOS6: Building a modified kernel rpm
Dear Akemi, I'm really ashamed, in "https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source" I've missed the last 5 lines following the CentOS5 section. All is now clear for me on the process to follow to build a new kernel from source rpm and the CONFIG_NUMA_EMU option is active. I've set it with make menuconfig to avoid some additional mistakes in the config file.

How to patch a CentOS6 kernel
So I have a couple patches supplied to me by upstream in relation to a kernel bug[1], but I can't figure out how to patch the kernel. The CentOS wiki page discusses retrieving the kernel source[2], but doesn't describe how to apply patches. Instructions I've found apply to CentOS5, and RH has changed their kernel packaging since then. I've been banging my head on this off and on

Automating the preparation of kernel sources

I followed the info for centos6 here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source#head-a8dae925eec15786df9f6f8c918eff16bf67be0d I can successfully compile and install the module from tarball after manually prepping the kernel sources, but I need to turn this into

daemon user can't acess file while nobody user can.
I have a server where /home is on a nfs. I installed an apache (my compile) server. By default, it runs as daemon. That user can't acces files in /home/*/public_html, while the nobody user can. So if I change my apache config, it now can. /home is : drwxr-xr-x /home/user is : drwxr-xr-x /home/user/public_html is : drwxr-xr-x selinux is disabled. In the error log of apache I get :
