Selinux extra packages and compiled apps
Hey, I am in the process of trying (and convincing my colleagues) to learn/setup selinux as we switch to 6.0... Quick question: do I really "need" to install the setools/setroubleshoot packages or can I live without them?? They want to install 80 packages (gnome stuff, gstreamer, gtk, tcl/tk...) and I would like to avoid installing all sort of graphical tools/libs on my lean

reinventing the wheel? page checker
Not sure if there is an app like this yet. I want to keep tabs on my web applications and thought of using a 'page checker'/ I was thinking either running a sum on the directory or each file...but thinking a simple date check would be fine. The idea is web application, except the uploads area for photos, never has changes to its files except when I change it. However, if it gets

Trimming the fat out of a Centos 4.4 Installation
Hi, just to avoid re-inventing the wheel, is there any document that can help me reduce even further a "minimum" installation of Centos 4.4 (BTW can you say 600mb is minimum)? I am in the process of creating a small Centos-4.4-based Asterisk box and I need to boot it from a CF card. Deleting useless packages will help me do what i want. Example: even a minimum install of Centos 4.4 (or

How to prevent root from managing/disabling SELinux
At work I'm used to tools like eTrust Access Control (aka SEOS). eTrust takes away the ability to manage the eTrust config from root and puts it in the hands of "security admin". So there's a good separation of duties; security admin control the security ruleset, but are limited by the OS permissions (so even if they granted themselves permission to modify /etc/shadow, the
