I've had the CentOSPlus repository enabled for CentOS6 for more
than a year with no problems. I don't recall reading anything on
this mailing list or IRC suggesting that enabling plus caused
issues with

Has anybody enabled this repo?
I understand that it can really mess up updates and upgrades
as the dependencies are rather different.

Small correction in CentOSPlus (AdditionalResources/Repositories/CentOSPlus)
Hi,
Small correction there.
Example 4 of section 2 (how to use XFS with CentOSPlus kernel) says
you should use this configuration line in [centosplus] section of yum:
includepkgs=kernel* xfs* dmapi*
However, the XFS module's package name is kmod-xfs*, so I believe it
should actually be:
includepkgs=kernel* kmod-xfs* xfs* dmapi*
I did this on a system of mine, and in the first case it did

Firefox 45.4.0-1 for CentOS-6 and CentOS-7
The Red Hat engineers disabled the ffmpeg capability of firefox a couple
releases back due to stability issues. CentOS also has removed it as
for our main repositories, we build the source code for RHEL with as few
changes for branding/artwork as we can.
That said, we (I :D) want a firefox with ffmpeg support available,
therefore I have created a centosplus version of firefox that has ffmpeg

scp via another server
Hi,
This is fairly common. I would look into the use of a proxy command to do
exactly what you ask. In addition, though not strictly necessary, I also
would generally recommend rsync rather than scp*. Both of these are
documented on my page here:
http://www2.physics.ox.ac.uk/it-services/central-ssh-access
Its got an Oxford Physics specific slant to it but hopefully its helpful.

issues with 3rd party repos for centos
i'm reading the lowdown on 3rd party repos with respect to centos
here:
http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories
and i have a couple questions and observations. first, the entry for
centosplus reads:
"Popular packages from this repository include: postfix with database
support, a rebuilt kernel with additional drivers & filesystem
support, php5 and mysql5."

yum 2.4 for CentOS-3 i386/x86_64 (CENTOSPLUS only)
Hi,
yum-2.4 and required dependancies for CentOS-3 are now available for i386 and
x86_64 in the centosplus repository.
The default version still is 2.0, nothing changes for those who don't want/need
the new features (for example: fastestmirror, priorities and protectbase).
For those who don't want to update to yum-2.4 but still use the centosplus
repository, add to your /etc/yum.conf

ooof. IS there a CentOSplus 8 ??
https://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/CentOSPlus doesn't
say anything about it.

centosplus + priority plugin
I have a Centos 4 box that has been updated all the way to 4.6 without
using the centosplus repository.
Now I want to use the centosplus repository for Centos 4 to get the
latest LAMP, mod_perl, perl and other perl modules so that I can install
rt 3.6.6 and its necessary modules.
However, for some reason, the latest perl package in the centosplus
repository does not appear on the radar when

CentOSPlus Perl Upgrade
Hey All,
I'm trying to upgrade to perl 5.8.8 via CentOSPlus, but am having no
luck. Here is what I have done.
# yum list | grep perl
. . .
perl.i386 3:5.8.5-12.1 installed
. . .
Created /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo with:
#additional packages that extend functionality of existing packages
[centosplus]

yum list "available" versus "updates", and centosplus versioning
quite possibly more a yum question than a centos question, but i'm a
bit confused about the difference between listing "available" packages
versus "updates" packages.
short example -- listing what the yum man page suggests should be
"available" for installation, restricting myself to centosplus:
$ yum list available --disablerepo=\* --enablerepo=centosplus

Non Distro Repositories ( Addons / Extras / Contrib / CentOSPlus )
The aim of this post is to try and explain the non-distro specific
repositories hosted and run by CentOS. Aside from the main Distribution
repositories ( OS, Updates, ISO's ) we also run the following
repositories for each Release.
1. Addons : Contains packages required in order to build the main
Distribution or packages produced by SRPMS built in the main
Distribution, but not included in

Upgrading mysql5 from centosplus
Hello List,
I have a regular install of centos 4.4 i386 (lately updated to 4.5), a
new application needs mysql > 5.0.x
The natural way to do this was:
yum --enablerepo=centosplus update mysql
However, after all the dependency / transaction checks.. i get this..
