um...
no.
going way back to "triumph of the nerds",
the number-one example steve jobs used
to symbolize the absence of any esthetics
at microsoft (and thus -- by extension --
inside the head of bill gates) was the fact
they found a monospaced font acceptable.

Problems with building an rpm
I followed the setup instructions from
http://www.owlriver.com/tips/non-root/ (link from the Centos wiki). All
this is done on another 'clean' system, so I have to read the terminal
screen there and tell what went wrong here.
I then followed my colleague's instructions to get the tar, untar,
autogen, configure, and finally make rpm.
Well it was that make rpm command that finally

Sometimes the direction of UI development in gnome really angers me.
For example, when selecting a font for the gedit text editor - there is
no way to ask it to only show monospace fonts.
It's a fricken text editor, that should be the default - meaning you
have to do something special to get fonts shown that aren't monospace.
Seriously, who is in charge with the UI design in gnome?

becoming root
Hi List,
I've just drafted a FAQ/mini-HOWTO on becoming root as this is a topic I
see come up time and time again.
Perhaps someone with a reasonable understanding could check it for
technical correctness, and if anyone would like to offer comments/feedback??
Any suggestions as to where might be an appropriate home for this on the
Wiki?
Regards,
Ned

And logging in as root for everyday tasks is generally discouraged, as well.
Most admins will edit their /etc/sudoers file to give themselves sudo
access, so they could run

Specific Font with wine
Hi !
I run Wine 20050211 on RedHat 9. I would like run an application which
use 4 specific fonts (.FON under windows).
I read the manual (winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-fonts-main) and
follow the instructions. But it seems not working ...
1. I convert .fon files to .bdf and to .pcf. I moved the .pcf files to
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc. I'm not sure here to have correct files because

VNC Questions
Fresh install of CentOS 5.4 (and my first experience with CentOS).
Following install, the first thing I did was enable desktop sharing
so that I can control this new 1U box from my Mac workstation.
The VNC client sees this as "Warren's remote desktop" but I'd like it
to be more meaningful, as I have other remote desktops. Where in the
user settings/prefs do I change the way

In the sudo section please add "sudo -s" and "sudo -i" as ways to open a

Not receiving voicemail message in mailbox
It should be as simple as editing voicemail.conf :
; Voicemail Configuration
;
[general]
; Formats for writing Voicemail. Note that when using IMAP storage for
; voicemail, only the first format specified will be used.
format=wav49|wav|gsm
; Who the e-mail notification should appear to come from
serveremail=asterisk-voicemail
; Should the email contain the voicemail as an attachment
attach=yes

hi all,
I have a successful (self-compiled from source code) Dovecot v2.2.16 setup
