CentOS 7 x86_64 with Updates HVM not enabled for new c5.* instances, ENA support tagged incorrectly
Hi, We?ve been looking to try out the c5.* instances with the latest AMI for the aforementioned image within us-east-1, but this will fail due to both the allowed instance list not containing c5.* and the ENA support flag being set to false. ENA support shipped with CentOS 7.4 and should now be fine to be enabled within the AMI metadata, which judging by a similar thread in July this year

AWS Official AMI's with ENA Support
Hi, So whats the deal here guys? Is CentOS not going to start flagging the AMI's for AWS with the 'EnaSupport = True' on the latest images being created? Having this flag is the only way to take advantage of the newer m5 and c5 instance family types. Seems only `ami-02e98f78` supports ENA in 'US-EAST-1' to date and all since then do not. Would like someone to explain why

EC2 master restart, broken agents
A quick overview of our setup: We have an EBS-backed puppet master instance with an Elastic IP, and a number of puppet agent AMI images in various regions. When these AMIs were created, they were authenticated with the puppet master using the following command: # puppet agent --certname=$(cat /etc/puppet/certname) --server puppet.ourdomain.net --waitforcert 30 --test ...and accepted on the

How to build CentOS 7 AMI
I'd like to revisit the thread about how the CentOS 7 AMIs are created ( https://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-devel/2015-July/013652.html) and see if the process can be published in the https://github.com/CentOS/sig-cloud-instance-build repository or another relevant location. With CentOS 7 AMIs only being available in the Marketplace, all resulting EC2 instances have the Marketplace

glusterd service fails to start from AWS AMI
Hello all. I have a working replica 2 cluster (4 nodes) up and running happily over Amazon EC2. My end goal is to create AMIs of each machine and then quickly reproduce the same, but new, cluster from those AMIs. Essentially, I'd like a cluster "template". -Assigned original instances' Elastic IPs to new machines to reduce resolution issues. -Passwordless SSH works on initial

Using samba4 with kerberos outside of an AD realm
Hello -- I'm trying to run a samba4 server (note: Fedora packaged version, samba-4.0.0-174.fc18.x86_64) under a kerberos realm that isn't AD. This is a summation of the config that I'm using (works under samba 3.6): security = ADS passdb backend = tdbsam restrict anonymous = yes server signing = auto client signing = auto smb

fts-elastic plugin
Hi all, I have recently worked on fts plugin for ElasticSearch. https://github.com/filiphanes/fts-elastic It is forked from fts-elasticsearch as you can see in PR https://github.com/atkinsj/fts-elasticsearch/pull/21 with following changes (maybe some more) - no duplicate json keys in indexed documents, so compatible with ES 7.x - 1 elastic index for all users with routing by username -

root device for CentOS AMI would be /dev/sda1?
Hi guys, first of all, thanks a lot for all guys preparing for official CentOS AMIs on Amazon Marketplace! However, I have noticed a problem on a swap device when I launch a m1.small instance with the official AMI. AWS prepares two local storages for m1.small and c1.medium; one is for 160GB instance store storage, and the other is for a storage for the swap space, described in:

EC2 elastic IP failover
Hello, I have two EC2 instances and I would like to setup some sort of failover strategy for them. They currently act as load balancers, forwarding layer 7 traffic using haproxy and stunnel to other EC2 instances. One of these load balancers currently has an elastic IP assigned with an A record pointing to it. What I'm trying to achieve is to remap this elastic IP in the eventuality of an

Elastic net in R (enet package)
Dear R users, I am using "enet" package in R for applying "elastic net" method. In elastic net, two penalities are applied one is lambda1 for LASSO and lambda2 for ridge ( zou, 2005) penalty. But while running the analysis, I realised tht, I optimised only one lambda. ( even when I looked at the example in R, they used only one penality) So, I am

Lost zpool after reboot
Hello, I have a dual boot with Windows 7 64 bit enterprise edition and Opensolaris build 134. This is on Sun Ultra 40 M1 workstation. Three hard drives, 2 in ZFS mirror, 1 is shared with Windows. Last 2 days I was working in Windows. I didn''t touch the hard drives in any way except I once opened Disk Management to figure out why a external USB hard drive is not being listed.

Copying CentOS AMIs for EBS encryption
I, Just wondering if anyone was able to look at this option with the current images or could share some tips on copying the image to another AWS account so we can use EBS encryption on the volume without tainting the image too much? Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Hodgson Sent: 27 July 2017 15:09 To: centos-virt at lists.centos.org Subject: Copying CentOS AMIs for EBS
