samba4: problems setting up win DC
Hi, I had a simple domain under samba 3.5, but because of our company's complex structure, management made a call to move to win2k8 infrastructure. And my task is to do this migration seamlessly as possible. My plan was to upgrade to samba4, then to add win2008 DC, transfer FSMO roles, then demote samba server and shut it down. However, i run into some troubles i couldn't solve... I

Are XSA-289, XSA-274/CVE-2018-14678 fixed ?
Looks like this never got a response from anyone. In the end, it was effectively decided that these patches were not recommended until they were reviewed again and XSA-289 has no official list of flaws

Re: Samba PDC and Kerberos(MIT or SEAM in Uinx, without microsoft ADS)
Hi, Thank you very much for you reply. Some people think storing the sensitive information in the LDAP is not very secure. They think the sensitive information and the public information should be stored in seperate place. So we want the samba PDC authentication can integrete the Kerberos authentication directly. Re: Samba PDC and Kerberos(MIT or SEAM in Uinx, without microsoft ADS)
A few more questions and comments... related to this topic If Kerberos is the back-end to LDAP.. there is no need to synchronize or store a password in the LDAP tree.. just the principal for the user in the userpassword attribute: userpassword = {kerberos}name@domain in the smb.conf file do I need stuff like this? Unix password sync = yes passwd program =

I did not mean sync between Kerberos and LDAP, I mean sync

Need to migrate a centos image from xen source to xenserver
Have an Onapp system we are migrating away from to xenserver and it uses Xen source images I believe. I had no problem moving the MS Windows servers using the xenconvert utility, but not being a linux guy the conversion process of moving files from Onapp to xenserver is not clear. I think the files on Onapp are .img files, but they don''t use extensions from what I can tell when they

Re: Libguestfs Hangs on CentOS 7.4
(1) This made no difference. It still hangs around the same place. (2) It wasn't enabled in the kernel so i enabled it. I then rebooted but unfortunately it made no difference. If you want access to a hypervisor to have a play around, let me know. The only information i really have is that if i installed CentOS 7.3 on this hypervisor it works fine. Thanks for the info. I can confirm doing the following works: yum install centos-release-qemu-ev yum install qemu-kvm-ev libguestfs-test-tool completes in 3 seconds. something wrong with the list (or its members)
I've noticed the list has pretty low answer:question ratio. I tend to think that many replies go directly to people who post the questions and those people never bother to share the answers with the community. I don't think this is fair so we may want to do something in this regard. We either need certain rules that will imply posting of summaries (as {SUN,LINUX}managers lists do), or the

OCFS Experts, Sorry if the questions below are naive, or were answered before, but here it goes. I have a potential client who at the moment having problems installing 10g RAC on RHEL 3.0 (2.4.21-20). They using (rather planning to use) OCFS for everything, including CRS files (OCR, voting). Questions: 1) They use custom kernel (modified by their security people). Do we support OCFS on the

storing SOM epoch in EA
Good day, some time ago we discussed that it would be very helpful to store epoch in inode on mds. the perfect solution could be to store epoch in old inode body, but there is no much space for this in the body and with DMU we''ll have this problem again. given the minimal inode size we use on MDS is 512 bytes, we can store upto 13 stripes in the body. larger EAs go to a dedicated block.
