insert ISO into a KVM guest
There's got to be a simple way to attach an ISO to a KVM guest. I just haven't yet discovered it. I've tried adding the following stanza to my guest XML file, under the <devices> stanza and starting the guest: <disk type='file' device='cdrom'> <driver name='qemu' type='raw' /> <source

cptime/memdisk block size
Is there any documentation available about what block size MEMDISK uses to load (big iso/harddisk) image files? Experimenting with cptime.c32 on a Lexar Triton Jumpdrive (64GB, 170MB/s read in Windows, 150MB/s write in Windows) on bootable USB3.0 resulted in the following, depending on specified block size: * 2048 bytes --> 25MB/s * 2MB --> 61MB/s It would be nice to know at which speed

Basic KVM networking question
A CentOS 6.3 box ("host") runs several KVM virtual machines, each of which has two interfaces attached to the two bridges br1 and br2 (and each thus has two IP's; one on 192.168.0.0/22 and one on 192.168.4.0/22); net.ipv4.ip_forward on the host is 1. Simplified diagram: host +---------------+ |

Issues with exposing USB serial dongle to guest VM
Hi. I have Centos 7 (updated) running as my host, and I?m using Qemu and KVM, version 2.0.0 and 2.6.0. I have a Trendnet TU-S9 USB serial dongle attached to the host, which uses the Prolific 2303 chipset. I blacklisted the pl2303 driver so the host doesn?t grab the device, and want to expose it to the guest. On the client, I see 2 USB hubs (3.0 and 2.0), and I see 2 USB endpoints (even though

CentOS 5.1 Live USB NTFS Support
First of all, I was able to use the 5.1 LiveCD to create a bootable USB (8G Lexar FireFly) - thanks to all for your assistance. Question - has anyone been able to add NTFS support to an USB install? It would be a nice to have the ability to access NTFS (and Vista for that matter) disks for troubleshooting and general access. Any and all comments will be appreciated. Thanks! Mark

Well I did it...
I dont know if this will be of any interest to you guys. I have a lexar 1GB flash drive. I used the mkdiskimage script and then did syslinux as described in the readme.usbkey. (the script took a REALLY long time too) I booted into 3.7 knoppix. Copied all the directories onto the key. Then copied the contents of the /boot dir into the root dir. I renamed isolinux.cfg to syslinux.cfg I had

Logitech Brio 4K Ultra HD Webcam - 960-001105
Everyone, I was hoping to be able to plug the Logitech Brio in and have it work, but it did not. I can have it connect to a Windows 10 laptop and have it function, so I know the camera works. ? The Centos 7.4 is recognizing it when I plug in the usb 3.0 cable. The results of dmesg demonstrated : [ 4519.922257] input: Logitech BRIO as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/0000:03:00.0/usb9/9-4/9-

Help With Installation to USB Stick
Recently, I was able to create a workable Centos 4.4 "Live USB" on my 1G Lexar Firefly pendrive using the steps in http://linux.web.psi.ch/livecd/usbdisk.html. At the moment, it is doing its job, so I probably won't focus too much more on it. One thing that is annoying, although doesn't cause a problem is that on powerdown and reboot, the cd rom drive ejects - of course, there

Routing setup questions
I am experimenting with routing tables to obtain a little understanding of how things work. I have a kvm hypervisor host (KVM1) with two physical Ethernet nics configured as bridges (br0 and br1). KVM1 br0 is configured with a public ipv4 address [x.y.z.42/24] and br1 is configured with a private ipv4 address [192.168.216.42/24]. A second kvm hypervisor, KVM2, is similarly configured albeit with

Libvirt save problem
Hi list, i use a centos 7 as virtual host with two guests with windows 2012 standard ( as storage i use RAW files). My problem is that sometime during the bakup my server reboot without leaving information in the log files ( /var/log/messages ). The backup does this steps: 1) Save the state of the virtual guest ( with the command "virsh save " ) 2) Make a snapshot of the filesystem (
