adding xen support to grub2 got segfault running grub2-mkimage
There is some interest lately in making a self-contained grub2 boot image - call it pvgrub2, used for booting paravirtual domU in xen where a grub2 config is installed.
First attempt------------------
I first tried using the grub2*.src.rpm from the C7 vault.
I configured as shown belowhttps://blog.xenproject.org/2015/01/07/using-grub-2-as-a-bootloader-for-xen-pv-guests/

PV-GRUB chainloading Grub2
Hey guys,
what I am trying to do is a chainload into grub2 installation in a DomU. So far I determined, PV-GRUB does not understand grub2''s grub.cfg notation. So I created a dummy menu.lst which has the needed root kernel and initrd rows and then referenced this to the DomUs config. The main intention to do this, is to be able to use kernel upgrades without touching the menu.lst for

Centos7 Xen hypervisor console= options broken in default grub2 config
Hello,
While testing Virt-SIG Xen 4.12 rpms on CentOS 7, I noticed the default Xen hypervisor console= option parameters are broken, and result in an error from Xen, and no output on the physical vga console:

CentOS 8 Install as DOMU in PV Environment
Christoph,
I understand this is the better option if HVM is available.. Im not sure how to make use of this kernel in a non-HVM, PV environment. I'm a little disturbed by the fact that there isnt PV support in CentOS 8, I hope it comes later so at least PVH becomes an option.
As for using this kernel in a PV only environment, the only route would be attempting an in place upgrade and try to

[PATCH v3 2/2] v2v: ilnux: detect name of grub2-mkconfig
On Debian family of OSes Grub2 tools are prefixed with 'grub-', not with
'grub2-'. We have to detect the correct name of the tool to use it.

Other than the concern about being a little too obsessed about the 79

[PATCH 3/3] v2v: bootloaders: improve detection of Grub2 default method
Detect only once which method must be used to get and set the default
Grub2 kernel in the guest: this avoids the same checks in list_kernels
and set_default_kernel.
Also, add a "no method" option as well: Debian/Ubuntu guests do not have
neither grubby nor Perl's Bootloader::Tools, so there is no way to know
what is the default kernel, nor to change it. In this case, add a

Arch linux PV guest won't boot
Hi,
I have Xen installed and running several (win 7) HVMs. I've setup an
Arch linux PV guest but I am having a problem booting it. (The install
image booted fine.) After each failed attempt to boot I try to view
the /var/log/xen/bootloader.XX.log file but all of these files are
zero bytes. So, I'm having some trouble troubleshooting this. I
followed the instructions from

poor performance with dom0 on centos7
Hi
Im now pretty sure the problem is the DomU with NFS Server.
If I write on a NFS share from other Host (bare metal or other vm) then
I see on my NFS server nearly the whole time 100% io at [jbd2/dm-5-8]
process...
If I write on a SMB share (same partition as nfs share) from other Host
then it is a little bit better but still ever and ever again 100% io
load
If I write a 1GB file on the

Re: [PATCH 3/4] Add SUSE converter
Mike,
This is great. I have a couple of minor comments inline, but this looks
good.
I do have a major concern, though, which is this is basically a fork of
RedHat.pm. There are well over 1,000 identical lines of code between the
2 modules. Many of the differences are relatively minor, and could be
handled with additional cases. I've also fixed a couple of bits in
RedHat.pm since you forked

[PATCH] v2v: factor out bootloader handling
Create an object hierarchy to represent different bootloaders for Linux
guests, moving the separate handling of grub1 and grub2 in different
classes. This will allow us to support more bootloaders in the future.
This is mostly code refactoring, with no actual behaviour change.

[PATCH 0/4] Turn-key PV-GRUB2 installation
This patch set should make it easier to maintain PV-GRUB2 installations.
The general idea is based on discussions I had with Xen developers
(mainly Ian Jackson) at the Ubuntu Developer Summit in May 2011; though
I never did manage to get the core port done and Vladimir beat me to
that, I think the configuration approach we discussed there is still
valid and useful.
The idea here is that people
