vnic on top of aggr of 2 x 1 Gbit/s NICs
Hi,
Can you tell why my vnic built on top of an aggregation of 2 NICs of 1 Gbit/s doesn''t report a speed of 2 GBit/s ?

vif-route issue with HVM domU only
Hi,
I seem to have an interesting issue with vif-route.
This is after an update to Xen 4.2.1, switching from xm to xl.
I have 10 PV domUs on the host and two FreeBSD ones.
All the PV domUs are now working nicely.
Since FreeBSD has always been just slightly broken as PV I chose a HVM domU for those, but with PV drivers.
Those PV drivers all blew up now after the upgrade. I''m now trying

corssbow and virtualbox issues..
Hi,
I''m afraid I have some problems understanding how crossbow is supposed to work ;)
On my machine (OpenSolaris, snv_111) I''m running VirtualBox with couple of linux / XP
installation and additionally a zone with exclusive IP.
My network configuration looks like this:

Crossbow and zones
Howdy,
I just finished reading through the Crossbow presentation:
http://blogs.sun.com/sunay/resource/crossbow.pdf
And have one question. If you create a virtual NIC with dladm:
$ dladm create-vnic -d bge0 -m 0:1:2:3:4:5 -b 10000 1
Can you then add vnic1 directly to the zone? e.g.:
zonecfg -z zone1
zonecfg:zone1> create
zonecfg:zone1> set zonepath=/zones/zone1
zonecfg:zone1> add net

Virtual Network Interfaces showing all packets as dropped
Hey,
I am having the problem that when looking at my virtual network
interface stats all packets are shown as dropped (The guests all
do have a working internet connection though).
All the guests are running Debian Lenny with Kernel version
2.6.26-2-amd64 and running as HVM.
The host is running Debian Lenny with the stable-2.6.32.x git
kernel.

xen and spice problem
Hi
it is possible to use xen and spice already? If yes is there any howto
or doc how?
If I turn on spice in cfg of a hvm domU, I get this error:

creating a vnic to represent the factory MAC address
How do I create a vnic that represents the factory assigned MAC
address of my physical nic?
The bge device in my system (x2100) appears to support 4 MAC
addresses. The driver reserves the first as the ''primary/default''
address and allows manipulation of the other three via the
MAC_CAPAB_MULTIADDRESS interface.
I''d like to use vnics on this system, as I have Xen guest

Dear Maintainer,
after upgrading my bullseye server to bookworm I ran into the issue that all VMs of type hvm are not starting anymore.

Fabio has been the one working on getting spice working. Fabio, any ideas?

snmp statistics for vnics
1 simple question about network statistics for vnics:
We noticed that the statistics for vnics (used by Virtualbox guests) are not there. When the nics are plumped in the host OS, we do see them showing up, but all all records are 0.
Can someone tell me how to get the correct network info via snmp on the Vbox Host??
Thanks in advance.

Updated overview fig
FYI - I made a small but architecturally important change to the
opensolaris overview at
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/crossbow/crossbow_overview.png
The new figure better represents our current planned long-term
architecture, which allows multiple rings to be assigned to services
or protocols *through* a single VNIC, in this case VNIC1, instead of
requiring separate VNICs per

RFE wish list
Actually, it is not a list.. but just something that''ll be very useful to me in my business. If crossbow/virtual interfaces can provide a flow that can capture bandwidth usage over a period of time (including 95 percentile), that''ll be great!
Is this possible?

Duplicate packets when using aggregate datalinks on bge
I opened a bug report earlier today but it doesn''t seem to have been
added to the bugs database. I''m posting here in case one of the
Crossbow developers might see it and confirm this behavior.
Description
Duplicate packets are generated whenever an aggregate is introduced
into the network configuration. We''ve ruled out switch ports and
physical bge interfaces as

Bug#805508: xen: Unable to create HVM domUs

Dear Maintainer,
I attempted to create a HVM domU - using a config that previously worked
on xen 4.4 (on Jessie).
When I execute "xl create <vm config>", I get:

Bug#658305: Prevent silently failing on duplicate vifname
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 4.1.2-3
Severity: normal
When configurating a duplicate custom vifname for interfaces in the Xen
dom0 that are added to a bridge (which is obviously a configuration
error), the hotplug scripts fail silently to rename the new vifX.0 to
the custom vifname, if it's already existing.
The result of this, is that the domU will start normally, but no network

vifname length
Hello to all,
Does anyone know if there is a maximum length of the vifname string? Is
this a xen limit or a kernel limit?
Say a string 10 characters long, other than the obvious hassle of
ifconfig truncating the name are there any other issues to think of?
Has anyone used a longer vifname and experience any quirks like possibly
snmp truncating the string too?
Many thanks in advance if anyone
