Kernel Panic post kernel-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64
Greetings, Today, I decided to reboot one of my CentOS machines after it had been running for 219 days. In this time, I had done yum updates several times. When I tried rebooting the machine, none of the kernels would work except for the oldest one. Here are the installed kernels: kernel-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64 kernel-2.6.32-573.3.1.el6.x86_64 kernel-2.6.32-573.7.1.el6.x86_64

Missing module grub entry in xen-4.4.3-9 & boot issues
I've also had a few Xen systems grub entry issues. I'm not yet sure what triggers the events, but I do think there *may* be a correlation to the "/boot" part. I've found the Xen servers that have "/boot" before any of the the lines like "/boot/xen.gz" ended up missing complete grub entries. Not sure it's 100% true. Anyone else comment? Thanks PJ On

serial console oddities with CentOS Linux release 6.0 (Final)
It seems as if /etc/inittab has undergone some changes. That doesn't seem to be related to my issues however. I am able to setup the grub.conf ( menu.lst if you like ) to use the serial console ttyS0 at 9600 baud and the usual bits. However I can not actually see the GRUB menu at boot time. I see nothing until the server begins to boot and then I can see everything. However the grub menu is

Old hardware, newer kernels
I have an old server (old hardware) that's been running 6.4 with kernel 2.6.32-279.19.1.el6.i686, no problem. Except, any kernel update after that causes it not to boot anymore. All I get is a blinking cursor on the screen, nothing else. Is this the end of this hardware, no more kernel updates after this? For reference, these are all the options that kernel is booting up with (lines

Booting CentOS 6 with Grub from CentOS 7
I had CentOS 6 installed on an MBR hard disk. I converted the disk to GPT (with UEFI) and installed CentOS 7 on a new partition. CentOS 7 itself seems to work properly. Grub from CentOS 7 automatically created an entry for CentOS 6, but I get an error if I try to boot CentOS 6. The menu entry is: menuentry 'CentOS release 6.10 (Final) (on /dev/sda7)' --class gnu-linux --class gnu
