Installing support for q35 chipset
Hello I have recently had to reinstall Centos 7.5 to on host computer. I have not be able to set-up qemu to support the q35 chip set. I have several virtual machines that require q35. This is not my first install, I have configured libvirt on many machines in the past, it just worked, it has not required any manual configuration. [root at sj aadmin]# /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -machine help

libvirt machine type rhel6.6.0 on CentOS 7
One of our VM clusters has four CentOS 6.6 machines. I'm in the process of testing the addition of a CentOS 7 box (with the goal of upgrading the 6.6 machines soon). A newly created VM running on a 6.6 node has a machine type of rhel6.6.0: <os> <type arch='x86_64' machine='rhel6.6.0'>hvm</type> <boot dev='hd'/> </os>

Libvirt guest can't boot up when use ceph as storage backend with Selinux enabled
Hi there, I met one problem that guest fail to boot up when Selinux is enabled with guest storage based on ceph. However, I can boot the guest with qemu directly. I also can boot it up with Selinux disabled. Not sure it is a libvirt bug or wrong use case. 1. Enable Selinux # getenforce && iptables -L Enforcing Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination

kvm machine type pc-i440fx-2.1
Hi, Could anybody give me some advice, how to define virtual machine type "pc-i440fx-2.1" on latest centos 7.1? I need to live migrate vms from debian based hypervisor and I get an error about unsupported machine types, because on centos there are different naming "pc-i440fx-rhel7.1.0". -- Marius Vaitiek?nas

Nested KVM issue
Reports posted look good for me. Config should provide the best available performance for cloud VM (L2) on Compute Node. 1. Please, remind me what goes wrong from your standpoint ? 2. Which CPU is installed on Compute Node && how much RAM ? Actually , my concern is :- Number_of_ Cloud_VMs versus Number_CPU_Cores ( not threads) Please, check `top` report in

Nested KVM issue
I would attempt to decrease number of VCPUS allocated to cloud VMs. Say try 4 => 2 . My guess there is not enough VCPUs to run OS itself. I also guess CPU model << Haswell. Please , confirm ( or not) if possible. Since Haswell was launched via my experience Intel Xeons based on this kernel (or latter kernels ) behaves much better then SandyBridge or IvyBridge based. Centos/RHEL 64bit and ARM questions
I am digging a bit into RHEL 7 roadmap info. It seems there are statements that RHEL 7 will only support 64 bit. Is this corrent, and what for Centos 7? Also the ARM info I found was the target is ARMv8 which is 64 bit, not the ARMv7 which is 32bit. Any clearification is appreciated.
