ANNOUNCE: libguestfs & virt-v2v RHEL 7.3 preview packages available
If you are running RHEL 7.2 betas or snapshots (or RHEL 7.2 when it comes out next month) then you may be interested in trying out the newer RHEL 7.3 preview versions of: - libguestfs - virt-v2v (Supported since RHEL 7.2) - virt-p2v (Technical Preview in RHEL 7.2, Supported in RHEL 7.3) I intend to release upstream 1.32 towards the end of this year, and rebase libguestfs to that version. virt-v2v: Died at /usr/bin/virt-p2v-server line 411
Hi, In a oVirt 3.4.4 environnement, and using a virt-p2v-0.9.1-2.20130730.1.el6.centos, I'm trying to convert a windows 2003 server 32 bits into an oVirt KVM image. I already succeed doing that many times, but now, this is failing : - All the usual process sounds good : PXE -> DHCP -> connection to the P2V server -> choosing the profile -> (checking the debug option) ->

virt-p2v on RHEL 5
When virtualizing a physical machine ("P2V"), the conversion step is done by virt-v2v, but there is a small GUI / front end component called virt-p2v which has to run on the source physical machine in a special environment. http://libguestfs.org/virt-p2v.1.html#network-setup Because the nature of the problem is that we want to virtualize old machines, this means virt-p2v sometimes

Re: libguestfs-winsupport
I forgot: My repo has libguestfs-1.28.1-1.18. But for 1.31.X everything seems to work without libguestfs-winsupport. Second part of question is: Will libguestfs-winsupport be needed for v1.30? 1.32? And third: We came to > yum install ntfs-3g ntfsprogs ntfs-3g-devel > echo 'libguestfs-winsupport' > /usr/lib64/guestfs/supermin.d/zz-winsupport But this does not work somehow.

Windows P2V migration temporary recipe
These are the current steps we followed to set up and run Windows P2V migrations. Note that development is proceeding rapidly and the versions of all pieces below will likely be obsolete soon. ************************************************************* Windows RHEV P2V Cookbook 2011-1122 1. Install 32 bit Fedora 14 as a virtual machine or physical host. You will use this system to build

libguestfs-winsupport
Hello! I have a mess with libguestfs-winsupport package. I my repo (centos-7.1-based distro) I have ntfs-3g-2015-3.14 in epel (and not versions anywhere else). I got libguestfs-winsupport-7.1.X but it contains ntfs-3g-2014* and conflicts with epel ntfs-3g (although if I run rpm -ivh --force libguestfs-winsupport, the appliance uses v2015). I found on ~rjones/ libguestfs-winsupport-7.2.1

[PATCH] p2v: Compress virt-p2v binary and store it in $libdir/virt-p2v (RHBZ#1382275).
Currently 'make install' installs the virt-p2v binary in /usr/libexec/virt-p2v on the host. It is never supposed to be run from there, even by another program, so use of /usr/libexec is incorrect. It is only supposed to be copied into USB keys / ISOs / etc created by virt-p2v-make-* scripts. The other problem with shipping a "naked" binary on the host is that packages built

We could probably support OEL with a bit of effort, but it's not supported now. The virt-v2v manual (which you should read, as well as the virt-p2v manual) provides a list of all OSes
