Thanks!
I'm waiting to see if my current monitor actually dies. It's an Asus 1920x1200 monitor that I like rather a lot, but it occasionally acts a bit flaky when coming back out of sleep mode. (The screen fills with a white

plotting the following data
Hi,
I need to plot $time on the x-axis and $f on the y-axis for the following
data:
time f
0h 0.00
0.5h 0.54
1h 1.15
2h 2.33
4h 1.57
6h 2.19
18h 1.45
24h 1.79
I want the order of the data-points to be retained and the x-coordinates of
each of the 8 data-points to be equally spaced.
however, using plot($time, $f) completely scrambles the ordering of the
points.

2460x1440 video card recommendation
Can someone recommend a video card that's capable of driving a monitor at 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 and just works with Centos 7 without requiring any outside video drivers?
I would prefer to stay with the built-in video drivers that are included with Centos 7 if possible; I don't play games and such, so I'm not looking for high performance 3D -- I just want a high resolution desktop.

ISO R-programming docs/refs
In my job I write custom computer programs for data analysis, which
are used in our company's consulting business. Whenever I've needed
statistical analyses I've coded the algorithms myself, but my boss
wants me to start learning and using R, to speed up development.
I am very reluctuant to do this because I can't find adequate
*programming* documentation for R (though I can find

those numbers seem wrong to me. nothing I've ever seen uses 17hz or
33hz refresh, its all pretty much 60Hz in LCD flat panel land.

MS Word and Samba File Permissions Problem
Hello everybody!
Obviously Samba as a PDC and Fileserver for w2k clients is not as easy as I
first thought.
Soon after setup and integration in a network a problem with the shares and MS
Word appeared.
Any time a file is opened with M$ Word directly from a share and edited it
can't be saved. The M$ user gets the msg that the file is write-protected and
on the samba side the file

Memory vs. Display Card
Since memory has become quite cheap lately I decided to move from 2 GB
to 6. When I installed the memory every thing was fine until I went to
run level 5. At that point the screen turned to garbage and the system
froze. Is there a way to fix this so I can use the memory I bought? Do
I need a new display card?

unstable refresh rate
I think I may have updated the tv firmware between when it worked and
when it didn't.
I wonder it it has to do with bit depth.
I use lubuntu and it doesn't let me pick the bit depth so I don't know
what it using.

Plotting factors in graph panel
Hello,
I want to plot the following kind of data (percentage of respondents from a
survey) that varies by Income into many small *line* graphs in a panel of
graphs. I want to omit "No Answer" categories. I want to see how each one
of the categories (percentages), "None", " Equity", etc. varies by Income.
How can I do this? How to organize the data well and how to

5.5 kernel: using nouveau or something else just long enough to turn off Quadro RTX 4000 Mobile for hybrid graphics?
Howdy,
So, I have a Thinkpad P70 with hybrid graphics.
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM107GLM [Quadro M600M] (rev a2)
that one works fine, I can use i915 for the main screen, and nouveau to
display on the external ports (external ports are only wired to nvidia
chip, so it's impossible to use them without turning the nvidia chip
on).
I now got a newer P73 also with the
