Using network-script with Xen 4.4.1 (aka what will I do without xend?)
I have seen those documents, I did not see anything that indicates how _automatic_ bridge configuration could be enabled with xl. For my specific set up I have two bridges (xenbr0 -> peth0 & xenbr1 -> peth1). If I have to configure this manually with ifcfg scripts I will, but if an automatic method is provided or is possible with xl I'd prefer to use that. -Gene On Thu, Jan 29,

CentOS 6 Virt SIG Xen 4.6 packages available in centos-virt-xen-testing
This is a community SIG .. and xenproject.org does NOT release XSAs for 4.2. The goal of Xen4centOS was to use an upstream LTS kernel and update those as required to stay on an LTS. Also to do every second point release of xen (ie, 4.2, 4.4, 4.6). All so we are longer term than upstream, BUT we have supported code from upstream. So, the goal is to use supported code for the longest amount of

Creating bridged network
Dear Xen users, I''ve the xen hypervisor installed correctly on CentOS, and it boots correctly too. But the bridged network could not be configured using the commands and steps on the Internet... is it that hard to do in CentOS? Xen specfile git repos
There was some discussion about the lack of visibility of the Xen4CentOS development process. The Xen spec files and supporting patches are kept in a git tree. I've pushed copies of these trees here: https://github.com/gwd/sig-virt-xen xen-44 is the branch for Xen 4.4 development, and xen-46 is the branch for Xen 4.6 development. As is normal, these repos do not contain many of the binary

What do you use to provision domU's?
The subject says it all. I got CentOS 6.4 installed and then converted it to boot into the Xen kernel, using the C6.4 system as its dom0. But now I'm uncertain how to put a C6.4 domU on the result. Which tools are recommended?

ANNOUNCE: centos-release-xen switching to 4.8 next week
Greeting, We are about to update the centos-release-xen package to point to Xen 4.8 rather than 4.6. I'll push the update next week. As a reminder, you can "pin" your installation to Xen 4.6 by installing centos-release-xen-46 and then removing centos-release-xen. And for the more adventurous, that update will come with a new package centos-release-xen-410 to install Xen 4.10.

kernel 4.9.86-30 missing mpt2sas module
Hi I am attempting to setup Xen 4.10 with kernel 4.9.86-30 ( virt7-xen-410-testing, virt7-common-testing ) on CentOS7 After installing everything, the machine was unable to boot and hung in dracut stating it could not find its root device. The testsystem I use is a somewhat aged Dell M915 Blade (Quad opteron 61xx), using an MPT SAS controller for it's SAS boot drives. Stock CentOS 7

Fast Network Bridge
Hi, I''m working a lot with xen and migration. Now I switched to Xen 4.2 which is really nice. But there is one big problem. A performence issue. I used Xen 4.1 with a networkbridge by using the following line in the vm-config: vif = [ "bridge=eth0,script=vif-bridge" ] In Xen 4.2 this is not possible anymore so that i have entered the following in my /etc/network/interfaces: #

Xen 4.4.1-rc1+ rebase
I've got a first cut of the rebase here: git://github.com/gwd/sig-virt-xen out/update-4.4.1-rc1-ee81dda-RFC To build it, you'll need to download the polarssl tarball: http://xenbits.xen.org/xen-extfiles/polarssl-1.1.4-gpl.tgz And you'll need a tarball based on (unfortunately) a private tree, which you can find here: git://github.com/gwd/xen base/update-4.4.1-rc1-ee81dda-RFC This

libvirt, xen PV, qemu-system-i386, root user
Hi, after migrating to libvirt/libxl according to: https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/Xen4QuickStart/Xen4Libvirt I've noticed that my Xen PV domains are being launched by qemu-system-i386 running under root privileges. I am wondering why is this? Previously no qemu process was used. If qemu is needed for some reason, are there any guidelines for non-root operation? Thanks -- Karel
