Contributing to Xapian
Hi
Maybe I can start off with Hanxiao's branch but I can see there are two
repos.
https://github.com/v-hasu/xapian/tree/gsoc2014-evaluation
https://github.com/v-hasu/xapian/tree/gsoc2014
which one should I pick?
I have already successfully built xapian from the git repository (
https://github.com/xapian/xapian)
Since I am new to ML (well I dont know anything about it?), should I read

git checkout gsoc2014-evaluation
rm xapian-letor/nobootstrap
./bootstrap
./configure --no-documentation

I use Ubuntu12.04, GNU Make 3.81 and I am not sure if I use some special
configure options. The commands I use after clone the repo are as follows:
cd xapian
./bootstarp
./configure
make
cd xapian-letor
aclocal -I ../xapian-core/m4
libtoolize --force
autoconf
autoheader
automake --add-missing
./configure
make
Is this normal?

Help with xapian
Hi,
I am unable to build the letor module. I am generating the configure file
using autoconf. The configure file generated is throwing the error
./configure: line 2057: syntax error near unexpected token `1.10.1'
./configure: line 2057: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(1.10.1 -Wportability tar-ustar)`
I am not too sure what to do with this. Need help with this.
Thank You

Ask for advice on exact requirements to fix #699 mixed CJK numbers
Thanks for your patience.
I'm still confused of what I should do next.
If it's not worth changing anything here as it's a rare case,
sorry for my PR to github before the reply,
maybe you need to close it on github.
For another case, should I optimize current code with
replacing set to a static array?
Or rollback current modification to cjk-tokenizer and
try to do some work with the

Rather than give you a lengthy discussion of how RPM building works and
hacking the R spec, let's focus on this question instead (I'm still
willing to show you RPM building if you'd like, because if

WARNING you cannot build info or html versions of the R manuals
Are you building from a source tarball or using the Fedora SRPM? I strongly advise you to rebuild the SRPM, because the resulting binary RPM will have all the necessary deps for building and installing. You might need to change the spec up a bit, since I assume building on Fedora means a modern system, and f17.... isn't modern.

Problem while writing test cases for api_termgen
Excuse me, I have met some problem while writing test cases for api_termgen.
I added a case for mixed CJK numbers to test_simple,
as the example mentioned in #699:
> { "", "2千3百", "2[1] 千[2] 3[3] 百[4]"}
But it unexpectedly failed.
Below are the input and output.
I run test with command:

And the test case output is:

R-devel cross-building
I was cross-building R-devel (1.7.0). The tail of the error message
from running make on a machine with makeinfo (GNU texinfo 3.12) 1.68
is at the end of this email. The same procedure went fine on a machine
with makeinfo (GNU texinfo) 4.1.
My first guess is that the version of makeinfo is causing this. However,
this didn't happen with R-1.6.2beta. Please advise.

Ask for advice on exact requirements to fix #699 mixed CJK numbers
I am working on "#699 Better tokenisation of mixed CJK numbers",
and have implemented a partial patch of Chinese for this ticket.
Current code works well with special test cases and
all tests in xapian-core could still pass.
But I'm confused with exact requirements of the question,
for how much we could pay with performance on enabling more cases,
and if there are better methods to

I'd suggest that a good thing to look at would be functional tests of the metrics and algorithms in Hanxiao Sun's work from this summer. You'll generally need to go either to the original paper, or find an alternative implementation, to build up a series of tests that demonstrate that the implementation is doing what it is supposed to.
Xapian-core contains a test framework which it

Is there a front-end for using xapian-omega rather than the terminal? Could a Xapian database be accessed from web-browsers?
Hello friends, I have installed xapian-omega for my system installed
from Official Debian GNU/Linux Live 11.6.0 lxde 2022-12-17T11:46, It
is an old edition but I am okay with it,
I tasted the power of xapian while using recoll. I read that xapian is
a powerful database building package for character strings, and
indexes a directory of files really well.
I want to use xapian-omega as a customisable
