GSoC aspirant - guruprasad hegde
Hi,
I plan to propose 'Math Aware search' project.
After the literature review on the topic, I found Tangent or MIaS system
would be a good start. With that, I studied both of the systems well.
I plan to pick Tangent because it performs better. Also, it has a good
literature(thesis report and few papers available) and reference code
available.
I keep the summary of both the system, I

GSoC - Math Aware Search report
Hi All,
I created a work product page for GSoC evaluation. I plan to add a couple
of sections soon (bit more detail on summary, challenges, Test suite speed
up work details). Also, Project plan page is not completed yet.

Please let me know if you have any suggestion regarding this.

GSOC 2018: Diversification of Search Results
Hello,
I am Uppinder Chugh (irc nick: icebyte), a senior year undergraduate
student majoring in Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of
Technology, Guwahati. I'm interested to work on the idea of adding the
functionality of search result diversification to Xapian. After having
brief conversations with mentors on IRC, I would like to compile the
discussions and further discuss

We are equally excited about working with you over summer.
I think you missed reply by Olly on IRC, you can find it in logs here:

Drawing Tangent
Dear all R-users,
I would like to draw a tangent of a given function for a particular (given)
point. However the straight line representing it should not cut any axis, it
should be a small line. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Thanks,
Arun

GSOC 2016 Aspirant for Kepler Accelerated Video Encoding;
First, make sure there's a mentor available -- I doubt I'll have time to do
it, but perhaps someone else will be able to.
I would recommend writing a minimal application that e.g. encodes a fixed
group of frames. You should then trace this app under the blob with both
mmiotrace to figure out how to configure the underlying engine (probably
just firmware to upload), as well as get a mmt

Aspirant for GSOC 2018 for Nouveau Vulkan driver
Hi Anusha,
Sorry, I was under the expectation that userspace developers would
answer you after your first message, and I missed your second one! My
sincere apologies.
Generally, the process is that the student should research the topic by
first asking questions to developers about the effort, then they would
make their own plan. Then you would present this plan while looking for
a mentor.

Reducing code size of Position Independent Executables (PIE) by shrinking the size of dynamic relocations section
Sri and I have been working on this over the past few months, and we've made
some good progress that we'd like to share and get feedback on.
Our work is based on the 'experimental-relr' prototype from Cary that is
available at 'users/ccoutant/experimental-relr' branch in the binutils
repository [1], and was described earlier in this thread:

Hyperbolic tangent different results on Windows and Mac
Dear all,
We seem to have found a "strange" behaviour in the hyperbolic tangent
function tanh on Windows.
When running tanh(356 + 0i) the Windows result is NaN + 0.i while on Mac
the result is 1 + 0i. It doesn't seem to be a floating point error because
on Mac it is possible to run arbitrarily large numbers (say tanh(

R: Colouring phylogenetic tip labels and/or edges
Hi,
I have reconstructed ancestral character states on a phylogeny using MuSSE in the diversitree package and plotted the character state probabilities as pie charts on the nodes. I would, however, like to colour the character states of my extant species, i.e. the tip labels, the same colours as my pie charts, such that all species in state 1 are e.g. blue, species in state 2 red and species in

log transformation and mean question
I have question about log2 transformation and performing mean on log2 data. I
am doing analysis for ELISA data. the OD values and the concentration
values for the standards were log2 transformed before performing the lm. the
OD values for samples were log2 transformed and coefficients of lm were
applied to get the log2 concentration values. I then backtransformed these
log2 concentrations and the
