Weighting Schemes: Evaluation results
Hi all, I have evaluated new weighting schemes along with their existing counterparts in Xapian to compare and see which one does better job. Also, I have put together all the results files for easy access here: https://github.com/ivmarkp/xapian-evaluation/tree/evaluation/run and a README for getting started with xapian-evaluation module. Hopefully, it might be of help to those who are new to

Weighting Schemes: Evaluation results
Hi, Evaluation of pivoted normalization ("PPP") of tf-idf weighting scheme is also complete now. I have also evaluated the default tf-idf normalization ("ntn") and other normalizations combinations involving pivoted normalization in wdfn, idfn and wtn component as "Pxx", "xPx" and "xxP" normalization strings respectively to have a clear idea about

Weighting Schemes -- Project Progress
Hello everyone, I have been working on adding support for BM25+ weighting function from the last couple of weeks. Initially, I considered modifying bm25weight.cc to add support for BM25+ function without disturbing functionalities of BM25. But that didn't work out very well. A day or two was spent trying to refactor and debug the same code. Later, I took another approach following the

Weighting Schemes: Evaluation results
Hi James, > We probably don't want them committed in git where they're evaluation > runs (because we can recreate them); a gist might be more appropriate. Sorry, I have moved results files over to gist for each individual weighting scheme. Link: https://gist.github.com/ivmarkp/secret > I can't tell, but are some of those files from FIRE? Weighting Schemes: Evaluation results
Ah. If FIRE doesn't have something that can show this suitably, then > maybe Parth can advise on access to TREC, as I know he's used some of > them in the past. > ?I can say FIRE is also a reliable source but INEX/TREC are better. INEX can give you free access and TREC is not freely available. I had used INEX for xapian in the past and some details are here:

GSoC 2015 - Weighting Schemes
Hello everyone! I'm Ayush Tomar, junior undergrad in Computer Science from New Delhi, India. I love C++ coding and working on machine learning and information retrieval project. I was exploring the GSoC ideas for Xapian and the project on "Adding Weighting Schemes" looked really interesting to me. I wanted to work on text mining/IR this summer and this idea seems perfect! I have

omega: $field{sample} clarification
I'm using omega for a sitesearch and currently having a problem trying to filter $field(sample). At the moment it returns text from the page header and navigation within the sample, ideally I'd like it to return only the page content. I've been trying various omegascript commands to trim the output or seperate the fields and also looking at scriptindex to control how the xhtml is

Doc Value Query in Omega
Folks, Is it possible to query a document value (doc.set_value(i, val)) as part of the Omega query. I know how to do it from code. Is there a query markup to use for Omega? ...Thanks, ...Ken

omega with samba share
Hello, I have installed and configured omega to index samba shares on a debian server. I would like to know if it's possible to change the HREF links on the search results page to begin "file://" instead of "http://" I had a look at the templates files and there was no obvious solution that I could see. Thanks. -- Chris Purves Visit my blog: http://chris.northfolk.ca

Empty results OMEGA with XAPIAN 1.0.1
Hi, I configured XAPIAN 1.0.1 and OMEGA 1.0.1. on my development machine (first removed the old ones). I recreated my databases (both quartz and flint) and tried to run original queries against the databases created by the new versions. I'm getting empty result sets from OMEGA. If I use the delve tool I actually see that the records are created fine. No log files are written as far as I

For more UI functionality: OmegaScript, C++ or other?
Hello :-) We have Xapian and Omega working nicely. Now we would like more functionality at the browser UI, such as being able to specify date ranges and being able to search the file name including looking only for, say, .odt files. Question is whether the best choice for this would be to develop a template using OmegaScript or to switch to C++ or some other language. Availability of skills

Implementation of substring search in omegascript
Hi, I'm Ayush an undergraduate Computer Science student from Thapar university, India. I was fiddling with xapian since the morning and trying to understand the code and internals of Xapian. I tried implementing the bite sized project idea posted here: https://trac.xapian.org/wiki/ProjectIdeas#AddnewOmegaScriptcommandtodoasubstringsearch but could not understand what needs to be returned when
