image of OS X how to boot
I have an image of OS X that I made with from the physical disk using dd. When I boot with libvirt-manager and environment I get an error. no bootable option or device was found. Using CentOS 8 host - I tried fdisk image.img and I no longer see any options there to toggle bootable partition option. How can I boot OSX ? Thanks, Jerry

fdisk boot partition
I am trying to use CentOS 8 host to boot an image (OS X) that I created using dd. First I tried fdisk -l image_file.img - all looks good so I did fdisk image_file.img - this works - but seems in CentOS 8 fdisk there is no longer a toggle bootable flag option. How do I do that ? Thanks, Jerry

building NUT on Mac OS X Yosemite (website/documentation)
Sorry I ran ?make' command in nut-website/nut... (I still can?t understand why creating man page is so long, it is much more faster on ubuntu.) When running ?make? in nut-website, same issue then described previously, even with Arno patch > sort: stray character in field spec: invalid field specification `4.1,4.5rV > > >>>>>> and it ends with: > >

PAM issues on OS X Yosemite
Hi, I have been running dovecot successfully on OS X Mavericks for several months. After upgrading to Yosemite, however, PAM authentication for dovecot is failing. Or rather, creating the PAM session is failing. Either way, I can't get to my e-mail. $ /usr/pkg/sbin/dovecot --version 2.2.15 $ /usr/pkg/sbin/dovecot -n # 2.2.15: /usr/pkg/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Darwin 14.0.0 x86_64 hfs

building NUT on Mac OS X Yosemite (website/documentation)
Hi guys, Regarding building NUT on mac os x (yosemite), I tried Charles tweaks (ASCIIDOC_VERBOSE=-v + I?ve tried without internet connection) without success. Quick explanation for Charles regarding NUT WEBSITE: I would like to build it on my Mac because I?m experiencing some memory/performance issues with my VMs due to my quite old computer. bye, jean > Le 1 d?c. 2014 ? 20:54, Arnaud Quette

rsync stalls at .sparsebundle directories on OS X‏‏
Hi. I try to make backups from one disk to another. I have .sparsebundle[1] directories on the source drive (/Volumes/data/). When rsync reaches the first .sparsebundle it stalls and stays there until i ctrl+c. I'm using OS X Yosemite and rsync version 3.1.1 protocol version 31 installed via homebrew. However, I had this problem on OS X Lion too using rsync 3.0.9. Actually, the reason I

Allowing file permissions changes with mac os x clients.
Hi All, at work all our clients are macs (10.10 yosemite). We are trying to move from the classical afp file server to a samba based file server. After a lot of testing, things now works more or less: a mac server acts as Kerberos+OpenLDAP and a linux debian 7 box is doing the file server with samba 4.2.0. A client which has "joined" (which is bound in mac jargon) the

How do I increase the fd limit on OS X?
Hi All, I just upgraded to the new 1.1rc5 from 1.0 that I had been using and it advised me to increase the file descriptor limit. I'm not sure how to do this. There is a command built into tcsh that allows me to do this called limit, but sudo limit 4224 doesn't work, and usually dovecot is started from the rc.local file if I recall right, and I'm not sure how to set this up from

After we start making changes, you may want to use "git describe --tags" or the Git commit ID.

Samba servers and Mac OS X clients
I am trying to set up a file server using RedHat or Mandrake Linux. The Linux server is running netatalk. Clients include Mac OS 9.1 and 9.2, Windows 2K, ME, MacOS X (10, 10.1 and Jaguar). I seem to have connectivity issues with the clients running OS X, and was wondering if this is supported in Samba. My server is running version 2.2.6pre2, which was recently upgraded from 2.2.3. Thanks. --

Vmware - Slightly off topic
Hi All, What is the correct way to provide a CentOS 7 - WMware image for ESX ? As an amateur to VMware - I thought - great I can get VMplayer and ESX should be able to import my image... Wrong... I even went through the trouble of "converting" to VMWare workstation and thinking ESX could import that - Apparently still Wrong... I cannot for the life of me understand how one product
