CentOS 5.0 install fails every time.
Hey all,
I've downloaded the latest CentOS 5.0 and the md5sums look good. I
loop-back mounted the ISOs and pulled all of the RPMs out into a
single dir. I have an existing PXE environment with several different
distros to which I added 5.0. RPMs are served from my HTTPS server.
I used the isolinux.cfg that was provided and all *looks* good.
The problem is that on 4 *very* different

CentOS 5.1 single (server) CD ??
Hi,
Any chance of a CentOS 5.1 single server CD similiar to the one for 4.4?
That CD wa very useful for 90% of the instals that I've been doing and
whatever extras were needed were eaily added through Yum.

Jigdoes of CentOS 4.4 and 5.0 i386/x86_64 CD/DVD available.
I've gone through the trouble (after some 10 rounds I finally have
something I'm happy with) and generated jigdo/template files for
CentOS 5.0 iso's (CD/DVD i386/x86_64) (and CentOS 4.4 while I was at it:
CD/DVD/ServerCD SRPMS/i386/x86_64).
(and I started on this before the thread about creating the DVD's from the
CD's started ;-) )
They are available at:

Minimal install for CentOS 5?
Hello,
I'm new to the linux world (long time FreeBSD user), and I'm wondering
if there's an easy way to install CentOS 5 without the GUI and
unnecessary services? I see there's a server cd for CentOS 4, but I
didnt see anything like that for CentOS 5. Am I looking in the wrong
places, or is it just necessary to manually select the minimal set of
packages?
Thanks,
Aaron

Oddity with kernel built under CentOS 5.0
Yesterday I found a need to have the NTFS module support in my CentOS
5.0 at home, so I happily installed the 8.1.4 source, prepped it
(after deleting the rhel and olpc lines per Johnny's notice earlier in
this list), made the config with a ".nx" version name using make
menuconfig (copying the config from the SOURCES directory, editing it
to include the # x86_64 line and copying it

64-bit ISO Burning Failures
Hi,
I have downloaded several different sets of the 64-bit ISOs, and have
burned them to CD using various of my known-good ISO burning softwares,
including Nero and DeepBurn on Windows, as well as the native CD burning
KDE linux tool on Xandros Linux. I am using mirrors from the site, like
kernel.org.
I have chosen low burning speeds also, but when I insert the ISO CD into a
server and boot it

yum update for 5.0 ==> 5.1
I have read multipe messages here from people upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1,
presumably using "yum update" to do the deed.
When I do "yum update" on my (I think) fully updated Centos 5 system I get no updates.
Am I just being impatient (i.e., the updates haven't yet been pushed out) or am I
somehow missing them?
Thanks!

A few questions regarding CentOS (5.0)
Hello list,
I'm a former Trustix User (were active in that community since the very
first betas), and now that my dear distro is dead, I'm looking to make a
switch..
Several people recommended CentOS, so I decided to give it a spin..
I installed one new server with 5.0 a few months back, and I do have a
couple of questions..
- Why does the screen flicker on and off several times

What is the minimum ISO to build a server?

CentOS-5.2-i386-netinstall.iso<http://mirror.its.uidaho.edu/pub/centos/5.2/isos/i386/CentOS-5.2-i386-netinstall.iso>

looking for CentOS 5.0 x86_64 dvd iso (preferably not torrent); must be 5.0
Hi;
I'm looking for CentOS 5.0 x86_64 dvd iso (preferably not torrent); must be 5.0
All my web searches have come up with more recent versions of 5.x, not 5.0.
Can someone give me a URL I can wget with? I'd even be willing to
throttle down the wget).
Thanks,

After 5.1 update $releasever is still 5
I have performed the 5.1 update via the 5 repo on a couple of systems.
I then went to switch these systems to my new local repo using ther
$releasever variable. It still has the value of 5, not 5.1
Where is this set? Why was it not changed to 5.1?
On the one clean install from the 5.1 isos, $releasever is at 5.1 I think.

Error building kernel for CentOS 5.0
I thought I had all the tools I needed for this, but it seems
something is missing. When I build the 2.6.18-8.1.3 kernel from
source, I get this error:

"yum --security" and staying with 5.0
Hello,
So I've watched a few threads about the new 5.0 vs. 5.1 upgrade and
have a couple of (hopefully) practical questions about this:
Context - I'd like to stick to 5.0 at least for a while until the dust
around 5.1 settles down (and I'm back from holidays).
As an example - In Debian, as long as I stick to "stable" I can be
sure that the only updates I receive there are
